Grand Theft Auto now available digitally

Direct2DriveRockstar Games and IGN today announced that a number of Rockstar games are now available on Direct2Drive, IGN's digital distribution service for PC games. As part of the service, players can pay to download all three recent PC Grand Theft Auto titles as part of a number of packages or individually.

The "Grand Theft Auto Collection" sells for $29.95 and includes Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Vice City and III. Alternatively, San Andreas can be purchased for $19.95 and Vice City and GTAIII sell for $9.95.

Also on offer is a $59.95 "Rockstar Collection" which includes the three GTA titles along with Max Payne 1+2, Manhunt and Midnight Club 2. Currently all sales are limited to North America only.

That's pretty cool!

Does anybody know if these downloadable titles are compatible with mods?

San Andreas most likely is not, while the others should be.

Anyway, very cool concept - Rockstar is getting hip!

I knew SA wouldn't be, that's not a concern--I still have a first-run disc that is mod-compatible. I'm not giving that sucker up for anything.

Woah, the Rockstar Collection looks like a great deal. I'd get it if I didn't own most of those games already. :P
