Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas/Real Life Similarities

US Bank

The US Bank is by far the largest bank office I have ever seen. It stands tall over Downtown Los Angeles and all of the buildings surrounding it. Although it may not serve any purpose in San Andreas, it is a great building with many similarities to its real life counterpart.

Los Angeles City Hall

Located in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles is the Los Angeles City Hall. This is where city council meetings and major decisions involving the city of Los Angeles take place. From these two pictures, you can clearly see the similarities between the archetectual designs, though the surrounding environment doesen't look too much the same.

Union Station

Located in Downtown Los Angeles, the Union Station provides great transportation throughout the busy streets. It is quicker than a bus and easier than a car, and that is why it has such great business. The Union Station was newly remodeled, and it has expanded, now with stops at neighboring cities such as Pasadena. This train will be another great way to get across the enormous state of San Andreas.

Hollywood Sign

Although the Hollywood Sign isn't visible from every point in Hollywood, it is still a local landmark, as is the Las Vegas Sign for Las Vegas. It is known all over the world, representing the star-filled life of show business in Hollywood. It is located next to the Griffith Observatory, which has a road up to it, so the hike up to the sign isn't so rough!

Mann Chinese Theater

One of the most famous theaters in California is the Mann Chinese Theater, located in Hollywood. Here is where many movie premieres involving some of the greatest movie stars take place. The theater is also famous for the front entrance, where the hand prints and foot prints of movie stars are engraved into the sidewalk. Again, accurate structure, different colors.

Capitol Records Building

Capitol Records is one of the largest recording industries in Los Angeles. Located in Hollywood, Capitol Records has provided music from every genre since the 1940s. Famous artists with Capitol Records include the Beasite Boys, Chingy, Yellowcard, Supergrass, The Beatles, and even The Beach Boys.

Transamerica Pyramid

R*'s got some talented people. It's just about perfect.

Los Angeles Convention Center

The Los Angeles Convention Center is located in Downtown Los Angeles, neighbor to the Staples Center, home of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers. Here, events take place like all other convention centres. This includes car shows, swap meets, and, for all the gamers out there, the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3)!

The freeway - the most important means of transportation in Los Angeles. Without it, travel would be practically impossible. The freeway provides fast and easy transportation, great for avoiding the streets of Los Angeles. However, the traffic is horrible. Driving twenty five miles can turn into an all-day event!

Golden Gate Bridge

The Golden Gate Bridge is probably the most famous bridge in the United States. It is named for San Francisco's history in the Gold Rush of 1849. The bridge provides transportation just like the freeways of Los Angeles, except this one connects San Francisco and other cities in northen California, including Marin, that are seperated by the bay. The bridge has a similar design and a similar camera angle compare to its San Fierro counterpart.

Hoover Dam

The Hoover Dam is located on the borders of Nevada, and Arizona. It provides support for the Colorado River at the end of the Grand Canyon. Without it, the river would flood neighboring cities in Nevada and Arizona.

Las Vegas Strip

There's nothing like the City of Lights, Las Vegas. Packed with casinos and hotels, the Las Vegas Strip is the perfect location for a Grand Theft Auto game. It seems as though the modelers at Rockstar Games did their homework - the Strip looks practically perfect! You can even see the neon cowboy sign and Candy Suxx as the cowgirl in the distance.

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)

Los Angeles International Airport is one of the largest and busiest airports in California with constant departures and arrivals. Boarding airplanes (not confirmed, but assumed) will be a necessity for getting around the huge state of San Andreas quickly. Interestingly enough, the same model of LAX was used in Grand Theft Auto III for the Francis International Airport.

Female Neon Sign

This cowgirl neon sign is a symbol of Las Vegas itself. In San Andreas, the female cowgirl is none other than Vice City's Candy Suxxx.

Rodeo Drive

Rodeo Drive, located in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, is home to fanciest clothing stores around. With designers such as Versace and Armani, only the wealthy can afford to spend all day on this street.

Amusement Park

This amusement park is located in Santa Monica on none other than the Santa Monica Pier. It comes complete with a ferris wheel, a rollercoaster, carnival games, and more junk food than you can handle! If that's not the kidn of thing you are into, there's always room on the beach for swimmers and surfers!

Lombard Street

Lombard Street is located in San Francisco. From the top of this windy street, you have a great view of the city. To the left you can see Alcatraz and in front of you is a great view of the steep street ahead and the city surrounding it. Also, even the accuracy of the replication for San Andreas is teriffic.

Wouldn't you like to live there?

Donut Shop

Donut shop similarities.

Watts is located south of Downtown Los Angeles. It is closer to the airport than the skyscrapers in downtown. Although it is considered a bad neighborhood by some, it is home to others. The main attraction in Watts is the Watts towers, standing high above the city and its surrounding cities such as Compton. Both the structure and environment are identical in game to their real life counterparts.

Las Vegas Sign

This sign is one of the very first things you see when you enter Las Vegas, Nevada. It has been around for ages, and it is now basically a landmark.

Bay Brdige

The Bay Bridge is one of the other famous bridges in San Francisco. Usually, when you first enter the city of San Francisco, you cross this bridge to get there. However, the structure isn't completely identical to its San Fierro counterpart, the Garver Brdige.

Forth Bridge

No it's not the Fourth bridge (in fact, it's actually the third bridge in San Fierro), it's the Forth bridge. Although this bridge does not actually exist in San Francisco, it is located near the Rockstar North office in Scotland. I guess they just wanted to add a bit of home to San Andreas with this bridge, named the Kincaid Bridge in San Fierro.
