The Ill-Gotten Gains Update: Part One for Grand Theft Auto Online is available today across all five platforms. In addition to four new high-end automobiles (the Pegassi Osiris, Albany Virgo, Benefactor Stirling GT and Enus Windsor), you can also rule the skies in a pair of new extravagant, Deluxe aircraft.

And not only have the racks at swank Rockford Hills clothiers been updated with new designer outfits, necklaces, earrings and watches - the rack at your local Ammu-Nation's got a new Personal Defense Weapon, the Combat PDW.

Check out the official newswire for more details.

Classic HQ Palm Mod by Jestic

GTA: San Andreas - Modifications | @ 04:30 PM CST | By Ash_735
It has been a while since we've posted any mods on the frontpage but this one caught my eye and really does add something to the classic Grand Theft Auto games. Here we have a mod for both Vice City and San Andreas which replaces the generic palm tree model and texture with a higher poly 3D model and higher resolution texture of the original image. What makes this stand out compared to other palm tree mods is how this one has been made to stay as close as possible to the original design so it fits in well with the games art style, it's worth checking out. You can grab the mod from GTAGarage or from the Jestic's original thread over on GTAForums. Here are a couple of screenshots from the San Andreas version:

PSA: How to keep the full Radio Playlist post update on San Andreas

GTA: San Andreas - General News | @ 05:25 PM CST | By Ash_735
Well, it seems Rockstar Games are forcefully removing songs from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on Steam, today a near 500MB Patch was released for the game, great right? A patch that big must be fixing a lot of things? Nope. This patch just replaces the Radio Station files to remove the following tracks from the game:
Playback FM
Ultramagnetic MC’s - Critical Beatdown

Radio Los Santos
2 Pac - I Don’t Give A f*ck
NWA - Express Yourself

Bounce FM
Fatback - Yum Yum
Roy Ayers - Running Away
The Gap Band - You Dropped A Bomb On Me

Tom Petty - Running Down A Dream
Joe Cocker - Woman to Woman

K-JAH West
Black Harmony - Don’t Let It Go to Your Head
Blood Sisters - Ring My Bell

Radio X
Ozzy Osbourne - Hellraiser
Rage Against the Machine - Killing in the Name

Master Sounds 98.3
Charles Wright - Express Yourself
The Blackbyrds - Rock Creek Park
James Brown - Funky President
Macer & The Macks - Soul Power ‘74
James Brown - The Payback
The JB’s - Grunt

The strange thing about this however is that unlike Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Rockstar are forcing the tracks to be removed from ALL Steam versions regardless of when you purchased the game, this is bringing up all sorts of conflicts with consumer rights, for Vice City, Rockstar created a new app id for a version of the game without certain tracks, but those of us who purchased and owned the game on Steam BEFORE the rights ran out, we got to keep the full version. That's not the case with San Andreas sadly.

However, before you launch Steam where it will update the game ASAP to remove these tracks, make sure you do a backup of the following files:

And simply restore them once Steam has finished patching the game. Now your copy of San Andreas will have the full radio playlist as it should. Sadly this new patch also breaks quite a few things, and Rockstar STILL haven't fixed the issue of the missing 16:9 resolutions for this EXE (Hell, even 5:4 resolutions are missing too), and we're also getting reports of save games being broken as well as the game defaulting to 16-bit colour.

A shame to see Rockstar couldn't be bothered to actually fix anything in the game whilst they had the chance, meanwhile a small group of modders were able to release a barely 200kb file that fixes the majority of the engine problems and restores a lot of missing PS2 effects and features. Rockstar, I'm sure the nice modders would share their code with you if you just asked.

San Andreas Mobile, Coming THIS DECEMBER

GTA: San Andreas - General News | @ 10:45 AM CST | By Ash_735

As a special birthday present for me, ...ok, maybe not, Rockstar Games have just announced, rather surprisingly, that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Mobile will be coming out NEXT MONTH! Here is the statement below:
Before GTAV took us to the sun-bleached sidewalks and humming concrete freeways of present-day Los Santos and beyond, there was Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the biggest GTA of the PS2 era. Now, head back to the early 90s with CJ and the Grove Street Families when Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas comes to mobile devices next month.

Encompassing Los Santos, San Fierro, Las Venturas and everything in between, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has been upgraded for its mobile release. Newly remastered graphics including dynamic and detailed shadows, greater draw distance, an enriched color palette, plus enhanced character and car models make this the best-looking version of San Andreas yet.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas also features brand new touch controls including contextual control options to display buttons only when you need them and three different control schemes for driving and maneuvering, as well as a reworked checkpoint system for easier progression. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for mobile also comes equipped with full controller support, including Made for iOS controller capability on iOS7. It will be available for select iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle and Windows Mobile devices. Stay tuned for more details in the weeks ahead.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Coming to PSN This Week!

GTA: San Andreas - General News | @ 06:30 AM CST | By Ash_735

Good news everyone, the original Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is coming to the PlayStation Network this week, joining Grand Theft Auto III in the PS2 Classics section.

Now sadly again with it being a PS2 Classic, this does mean it's just the original game, no HD upgrade, no Trophies/Achievements, just the original bare bones classic that you all know and love, perfect to pick up and replay again to get you in the mood for Grand Theft Auto V next year.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be available on the US and EU PlayStation Network from this Tuesday (US) and Wednesday (EU), the game is already available on Xbox Live in the Games On Demand (Xbox Classics) section.
Eurogamer.net revisits the Hot Coffee Mod scandal

GTA: San Andreas - General News | @ 03:04 PM CST | By rappo
Those of us that have been around in the GTA community for several years can undoubtedly remember the wild uproar that surrounded one of the most downloaded mods of all time: GTA San Andreas's Hot Coffee Mod by PatrickW. This simple mod unlocked a side game allowing CJ to have sex with his girlfriends, but it also unintentionally unlocked a whirlwind of controversy surrounding the game, including a few lawsuits and an Adults-Only ESRB rating, effectively shutting San Andreas out of most video game retailers.

Video game site Eurogamer.net has decided to revisit the controversy with some transcripts of emails and phone conversations between Rockstar Games president Sam Houser and his associates, along with quotations from PatrickW, the modder himself, describing the situation from his perspective.

The article is a rare look at Sam Houser's vision for the Grand Theft Auto series, and how important it is for him to constantly be pushing boundaries:
"Can we confirm that these are the content changes that need to be made? As I mentioned to Terry [Donovan, then CEO of Rockstar Games], I was pretty shocked by the list. The cuts are everywhere. It doesn't feel like we are pushing any boundaries now. Why bother? I really, really do not want to change this stuff. It feels SO wrong at the behest of psychotic, mormon [sic], capitalist retailers." - Sam Houser

While general mischief always seems to be the goal in the Grand Theft Auto series, I can't say I've seen a game in the series push the envelope like San Andreas did. The Hot Coffee Mod seemed to be a very traumatic experience for Rockstar - let's hope that their willingness to stir up some controversy isn't lost in GTA V.
