Gamesradar Give LCS a Test Drive

GTA: LCS - Community News | @ 04:54 PM MDT | By rappo

Gamesradar have taken Liberty City Stories for a spin and written their own preview of the much-anticipated game. Although a lot of the article touched on points already mentioned in magazines, there were some key points that I thought were useful pieces of information (most just confirming rumors):
  • Besides the story-driven route through the game there will also be all the trademark diversions to keep players entertained and occupied. Vehicle and telephone missions, rampages, hidden packages and jumps are all shoehorned in.
  • There will be some new weapons added to the usual cache of arms, while classic vehicles have been remodelled and bolstered with some entirely new automobiles. Most notably, there is now a range of motorbikes and scooters bombing around Liberty City just waiting to be straddled.
  • In addition, Cipriani can't swim, climb, eat or do any of the RPG-lite elements seen in San Andreas, although, personally, we can quite happily live without any of these features.
  • If we have one reservation about Liberty City Stories it's that by re-treading old ground and not adding any distinctly original elements the game may feel a little stale.

The preview also comes with a small gallery of eight images, seven of which are brand new (in digital and/or unwatermarked form). You can view those screenshots in our very own gallery, as well.

Awsome new screens. Although I have to say that I parshally agree with the "the game may feel a little stale" opinion but I'm still excited.

Yeah, well, that's true for anything that is not a brand new concept.

Not being able to swim is going to be a major pain in the ass to get used to. Car heading for water. "No problem, I'll just swim out." Car nearly hitting water. "F*** I CAN'T SWIM!" Die. Repeat a few dozen times until I get it straight.

If you still play GTA3 everyday and San Andreas you'll get used to the diffrences. Vice City can kiss my ass though..

bah, not being able to swim isn't that biggah deal to me. You were never able to swim in Liberty City before so theres really nothing to get used to if you play GTA3 a bit.
But it will prolly be easier not to drown cuz you couldn't bail outa your car in 3 but you should be able to now...

Hmmm... not being able to swim or climb on stuff will be pretty annoying after playing San Andreas. I know it's a new story and all but this might end up feeling like a bit of a step backward, especially since we're all used to Rockstar constantly topping themselves with each new game in the series.
