For The Playstation

GTAGaming.com - General News | @ 08:35 PM MDT | By Zidane
Tom Gray informs us, there's some new info about the new, more compact version of the Playstation 2, the 'PSTwo' over at Gamespot, including some more pictures and the box. It's model is SCPH-70000, compared to the latest 'original' style PS2, SCPH-50010. It's pretty interesting. Check it out!

Also yesterday, SONY confirmed the use of Blu-Ray for the PS3, 'a format six times larger than a DVD-ROM'... which holds about 54GB of game data... yeah. Pretty crazy stuff. You can find out more about this at Game Informer's site.

you know what this is don't you rockstar will delay there game until the PStwo comes out then relaes sa for that disk that can hold more ( don't panic though rockstar already confirmed that its coming in dual layer dvds and they've probably already made it esrb is probably testing it right now but the games so big thats why they delayed it)

I guess with this design, Sony is unofficially abandoning HDD owners. This new PS2 doesn't have anywhere to install a HDD, and no new game will be able to support it (because there's a chance they'll be excluding some PS2 owners). That means SA won't be supporting it (though you probably already knew that) GT4 won't support it (there were some rumors) and anyone interested in FFXI is either forced to buy the PC version or be left in the cold.

The blu-ray is for ps3 not the new pstwo. It's very likely the follow-up to SA will be on ps3 becuase rockstar has stated that they were concerned over the format for the next generation. They were struggling to get everything on a dual layer dvd, and the next one is sure to be to large for dvd.

In the newest Game Informer, there are screenshots from a game from the PS3. I looked at the magazine 3 days ago at Hastings. This book, music, and video store.

The graphics detail is nice. And it looks like almost every game will be as detailed and beautifull looking as Doom 3 and Half-Life 2.

The PS3 using Blu-Ray disc was confirmed almost two months ago... >_>

http://dvd.ign.com/articles/536/536360p1.html

Not really much of a surprise though, that was almost a given way back when the disc format was first announced.

Also there are now Blu-Ray disc that are quad layered and can hold 100GB with there being a 200GB disc in the lab.

I think the biggest news about the new PS2 model (it's apparently not going to be called PSTwo) besides the smaller size and the apparent lack of HDD support is that it's not going to use a disc tray, but up a flip top like the original Playstation and the PSone, which should almost definately eliminate DREs and other problems.

Oh and I you have the "1" and 0 switched around at the end, it should end with the one. But just a small probable typo on your part. ;)

Wow... Slimmed. As in, thinner. As in, skinnier. As in, not thick. As in, more tooth-pickey.

Gamespot make a funny typing error in this section:

"However, the new console is smaller--much smaller that previous estimates, which speculated that it would be three-quarters the size of the original PlayStation 2. In fact, the SCPH-70000 CB is 75 percent smaller than the original, with its width now only 1.1 inches (2.8cm), down from 3.07 inches (7.8cm). The SCPH-70000 CB will also have less than half the heft of the original PS2, weighing in at a mere 1.98 pounds (900g). "Its size is almost as small as a hardcover book," SCE said in a statement."

three-quarters is 75 percent!

POENIXZERO mentions that there are 100 GB Blu-Ray disc and even a 200 GB in a lab.
So the next GTA could be 12 or even 24 times bigger than SA.Could you imagine that?
