Possible release timeframe for new GTA hinted by CEO - General News | @ 12:55 AM MDT | By victim
Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Rockstar Games parent company, Take-Two Interactive, may have placed a timeline on a potential GTA title release in a recent fiscal report.

All signs are pointing towards a release at some point in the 2013 fiscal year, which runs from April 2012 until March 2013.
“While it is still very early to discuss fiscal 2013, we have a very strong pipeline of titles in development and currently expect to achieve substantial earnings growth, including Non-GAAP earnings per share in excess of $2.00.” - Strauss Zelnick

The last time Take-Two looked at earnings like this was back in 2008 after the release of Grand Theft Auto IV.

For the past few months, anticipation for a future GTA title has been steadily building. Perhaps the title codenamed "Rush" is the next GTA after all.

Maybe it's for Agent.
Rockstar North is creating the Grand Theft Auto series... But Agent is also currently in development by R*North.

I think we can not expect a new GTA for these consoles. I expect that GTA V will be for next generation consoles which will take place in vice city.

I sometimes wonder if it will be pushed to next generation... I wonder if Agent will take priority over GTA being released, just so we can stop hearing about it already, haha.

The Wall Street Journal Options

Traders Look for 'Grand Theft Auto' Surge to Cap 2011 .

NEW YORK—Options bulls looked for gains for Take-Two Interactive in the second half of 2011, when the videogame maker's next blockbuster is likely to hit shelves.

In heavy volume, traders established bullish positions that work best if Take-Two's stock sees modest gains into the summer and then pops in the back end of the year. Wall Street analysts expect the latest iteration of the popular crime epic "Grand Theft Auto" to be released by early next year.

On Thursday, bullish options traders built "calendar spreads" by selling nearly 10,000 "calls" that expire in June and then buying the same number of contracts that expire in December. The calls grant the right, but not the obligation, to purchase the stock for $20 before expiration.

"Ideally, the stock moves toward $20 through mid-June and those calls expire worthless, and then the stock sees a strong performance through the year end," said analyst Frederic Ruffy.

Shares of Take-Two have rallied more than 40% in 2011. Most of those gains accrued in early February, when Take-Two and game-maker peers posted robust quarterly earnings. Take-Two's stock rose 2% to close at $17.41.

Analysts at Wedbush Securities Inc. said in a note to clients Thursday that Rockstar Games, Take-Two's publishing arm, is likely to release "Grand Theft Auto" before January. The stock jumped about 10% this week after the company released a crime-fiction inspired "L.A. Noire." New York-based Take-Two is due to post quarterly results after the market closes Tuesday.

Soo, you thing R* is just letting the GTA series be forgotten?
I don't think so, they are already planning/making a new GTA game but my guess is that it will be for the next-gen consoles, we MIGHT see a GTA game on this gen consoles, but it will most likely use the RAGE engine, it would still had been awsome :D

Of course they haven't forgot about GTA, they count EFLC as an official release, so techically, to Rockstar, there's been a GTA release EVERY year (2009 - EFLC 360, 2010 - EFLC PS3, PC). Plus there the thing with them wanting to try something new.

We'll get a new GTA game by this generations end (that's PS3 and Xbox 360 cycle, not Wii), so that still at least give us two more years from the rumours of new consoles inbound.

What!! Next gen consoles. I'm not ready to trade in my PS3. It has many years left to it. The Xbox360 needs to update (needs blueray player), but not the PS3 :P And 2013 for the next GTA :( Thats too far off. The world is going to end in 2012. (jk)
Hopefully by the end of this year they will give us something. At least were it will take place.
