Activison takes Majority Share of Take-Two

GTAGaming.com - General News | @ 05:00 PM MDT | By Ash_735
UPDATE: Yes this is an April Fools Joke, sorry if we scared some of you out there! Special thanks to GTA Network France for coming up with this idea and thanks to GTA L├ęgende, GTANetwork.it, Sector-Rockstargames, GTAForums.fr and The GTA Place for helping to spread this prank as much as possible!

It is previously known that Activision have had an interest in taking over Take-Two Games and earlier this morning Activision launched a stock take over of Take-Two, buying majority shares and starting the take over process. This means that Activision will soon own all studios under Take-Two's belt, that includes developers such as 2K Games and of course Rockstar Games. The take over also gives Activision ownership rights of IP's currently owned by Take-Two which includes the Grand Theft Auto series, along with the likes of BioShock, Mafia, Max Payne, Red Dead, etc.

An Activision representative has commented on the situation, stating that "Activision are more than happy to become the new home of Grand Theft Auto and many other great franchises, we hope that we can get along with Rockstar Games and give them that special Activision treatment the likes that Call of Duty and Guitar Hero received!". Rockstar have not yet commented on the situation.

As long as they leave the development up to Rockstar. We don't want something like what happened to SOCOM after Slant Six took over.

What's the source on this? Couldn't find much about it...
Also saying giving them the call of duty and Guitar hero treatment isn't too reassuring, I'd rather not have a new one every year and development being handed off to other studios to make it happen.

I am SO stoked for Guitar Hero: Marston Beatz. John, Jack and Abigail Marston rap along to popular rap and hip-hop tracks, such as:

It Takes Two
Just a Friend
I Got a Man
Me so Horny
In Da Club
Rapper's Delight
Informer
Jiggy Wit It
Today Was a Good Day

this is the complete set list. The rest will be coming this holiday season as downloadable content, priced for $29.99. It's great to see Activision doing a throwback and using a couple of songs from Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. It shows they're staying true to Rockstar Games!

I remember EA Games wanted to take over too. If I recall (not sure). If anybody "was" going to take over, I would rather have Activision than EA.

You know what? They both suck this day in age. I used to think the same thing, but both companies are competing to be the best at fucking over consumers.

The thing about Rockstar is that when they make a sequel, it feels completely different and has so many more features compared to the previous game, as opposed to CoD games, for example.

Fun fact:

Activision was the world's first independent developer and distributor of video games.
