CEO: Chinatown Wars piracy hampered sales

GTA: Chinatown Wars - General News | @ 07:27 AM MDT | By Neil
Chinatown WarsRockstar has been pretty tight-lipped about sales of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, which is available on three platforms. The DS, PSP and iPhone versions launched on different dates but all were met with praise - including some of the highest average review scores for their respective platforms.

However, Take Two CEO Ben Feder is today claiming that sales of the game have "suffered at the hands of piracy". He says that this combined with a weak demand for handheld software have left copies of Chinatown Wars on store shelves rather than in the hands of gamers.

Specific sales numbers are not available, although you can read the rest of MCV's interview for a little more insight.

If it matters, I bought 3 copies of Chinatown Wars, one for each platform. I think Rockstar really deserves my money 3 times over for the work the put in. It's really sad to see piracy eat into the sales of such a great game.

To be honest..
I wont say that I havent played pirated games before..
But I'm always willing to pay for something that's worth the money..

I'm a big fan of Rockstar Games and ofcourse GTA tops the list.
I loved GTAIV so much, I couldnt get enough on my 360, so I also bought the PC version.
All the R* games I got: GTA IV (360), GTA IV (PC), Episodes from LC, GTA San Andreas, Bully, Midnight Club:LA, GTA Chinatown Wars (PSP), Beaterator, Manhunt 2.

Anticipated Coming Soon Games: Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3, L.A Niore, Agent, etc.

I would be very disappointed if 'Piracy' would kill such a Great Developer like R*
