No new dialogue from Niko in L&D

Grand Theft Auto IV - General News | @ 02:10 PM MDT | By Slim Trashman
MTV Multiplayer got in contact with Rockstar's vice president of product development, Jeronimo Barrera, inquiring whether we'll hear any new lines from GTA IV's protagonist in the game's first of two episodes.
“Hell no!”

Niko shows up in the background, whispered about by another character as a “Slavic motherf—-r.” He pops up in “Lost and Damned” in a recreation of an early “GTA IV” mission that had served as the introduction of Niko to major supporting character Playboy X. This time, the player is controlling “Lost and Damned” protagonist Johnny Klebitz. Niko’s essentially muscle along for a drug deal that, if you played “GTA IV,” you know is going to go sour.

Niko’s lines in that “Lost and Damned” mission and the unspecified number of others “GTA IV” missions that are played from a different perspective in this episode are repurposed from the original game.

The article goes on to discuss how voice of Niko Bellic, Michael Hollick, had expressed disappointment with the pay for the job to The New York Times, and how this may have affected the relationship between Hollick and Rockstar, thus resulting in the "Hell no!" response.

Michael was in the game. Take that as additional "payment" enough. Christ's sake, let's face it, he knew how much he was going to make, and that the game would be retardedly huge!

That whole thing still irks me.

well they are sayin stuff i already assumed i didnt think they were going to give niko more lines if its not centered around him and also the missions with niko in them arent going to have diffrent dialouge because it just the same as before. so this article pretty much stated things i had already assumed. as for micheal hollick wasnt he payed like way above the average wage of the voice actors guild i mean ya rockstar could have payed him more after the wages because of how appreciative they were for him to be there voice actor but thats like giving me more pay because i sold more on an ipod and i was doing my job.

Yeah, what a crybaby that Michael Hollick. He got an offer, and he accepted it. He did his job, and he got payed what the contract said he would get paid. If he thinks it's not enough, he's either a greedy fuck, or too stupid to read a contract before signing it. Or he has a shitty agent.

It wasn't exactly surprising that GTA IV would be a huge sales hit. But even if it had not been anticipated, a contract is a contract, and that's all that counts.

I just hope that his reputation will suffer a blow he won't recover from for a while.

If you actually read the New York Times article, he doesn't blame Rockstar for the pay and says he was happy to get the job. He just thinks that voice actors should get paid royalties just like they would if they did a voice for a movie. Of course if anyone should be getting royalties for video games, it should be the lead programmers, they deserve it the most.

Yeah, he never blamed Rockstar or said he wasn't grateful (in fact, I believe he has said he was very grateful on numerous occasions), he said he wasn't happy with how the union/guild that voice actors are under don't even try to work this stuff into the contracts they sign...

People need to stop giving Michael Hollick so much **** over this. And I'm pretty sure this is more based around the fact that they are not going to have anything new with Niko then them being angry at Michael.
