Introducing the brand new GTAGaming mod database

GTAGaming.com - Website Updates | @ 02:53 PM CST | By rappo
The people have spoken, and now we are finally answering! Over the past couple months I have been working on and off at creating a brand new GTA mod database from scratch. Today I'm proud to announce that it's ready for public use! You can check it out at the same link as before: GTAGaming.com/Downloads.

What's New?

  • Upload your own mods!
One frequently asked question on our forums used to be "How do I upload my mods to your site?!" Before an administrator had to take care of that for you, but now you can upload your mods straight to our website! The mod upload form is easy to use, and all you need to get started is a GTAGaming account! If you're not registered yet, what are you waiting for? Let the uploading begin!

  • Graphical and technical overhaul of all page layouts
The page colors have changed, and the overall organization of information has been drastically improved. The goal was to make each part of the database as accessible as possible. All pages have been recreated from scratch, and are now more powerful than ever - for example, the new related downloads section will show you more mods that might interest you.

  • Coming soon: Detailed tutorials on how to install most of the available mods, so that you'll never break your game again, as well as some further information on how to upload your own mods to our new mod database.

If you come across any bugs or have any suggestions on how to further improve the file archive, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thanks for your continual support of all things GTAGaming, and we hope to be seeing some of your best mod creations uploaded soon!

To kick off the release of our new mod database, I've added some great downloads for Grand Theft Auto IV modding:

aru's SparkIV allows you to open, export, and import GTA IV texture files!
  • GTA IV Mod Installer: this is a very promising tool that allows you to download, package, and install .4mi file types to automatically install mods for Grand Theft Auto IV. The tool also allows you to install mods without installing an external patch, it's all included!
  • SparkIV: this tool allows you to open and extra files from GTA IV's model and texture libraries. It's currently in beta, but is already very powerful!
  • GTA IV Handling Editor: this tool allows you easily modify the handling of any vehicle in GTA IV. You can apply values one by one, or change a specific value for all cars!
  • GTA IV Weapon Editor: this is a program to simplify the ability of modding the weapons in GTA IV. Each tab in the program is dedicated to a particular set of weapon properties you are able to edit in the file.
  • GTA IV Mod Assistant: this is a program to simplify the ability of modding in GTAIV. What it does is help with modifying the files.txt file, backing up files, replacing entries, and more. Best of all, it allows you to choose which files to backup rather than backing up files you aren't even going to touch.
  • No Traffic, No Peds: this mod turns Liberty City into a Ghost Town by removing all traffic and pedestrians from the streets.

That... is an excellent question. When it's done I'll have to make a new section like "Other" :P

Nice work rappo. Don't be expecting any mods from me anytime soon cause GTA4 runs like crap on my system =P

that GTA4 mod install will be extremely helpful, I hope he keeps it updated to support future mods.

I'm really excited about SparkIV, too. You can view and extract almost every model and texture in the game already! And there's even an import function, so all we need now is an editor, and we're set for some awesome mods :)

I can see someone extracting all the textures and add low resolution ones, and make the game easier on performance lol. It would be a time consuming job but worth it.
