GTA IV PC put on hold in India (UPDATE 11/30: delay removed)

Grand Theft Auto IV - General News | @ 11:28 PM MDT | By rappo
UPDATE on November 30, 2008: the ANGRY pixel has published another article stating that the game will be released on December 3 as originally planned, and at the very low price of INR 499 (about US $10).

Originally due in India on the European release date of December 3, GTA IV PC has been indefinitely pushed back as a result of the country's recent devastating terrorist attacks.

e-Xpress Interactive, Rockstar's Indian distributor, felt that releasing a violent video game like GTA IV would be insensitive given this week's events. This came as a tough decision for e-Xpress because the game's release would have been a record-breaker for India - it was to be the first time a high-rated game would be sold at the lowest price worldwide (INR 499, equivalent to about USD $10).

Unfortunately, the delay is likely to just increase GTA IV's piracy rates in India, where the distribution of illegally obtained games is a growing problem.

I think thats a really nice gesture by them, even though the sound of it being Rs.500 is really tempting.
