"You Are Here" horror mod

GTA: San Andreas - Modifications | @ 07:26 PM MDT | By rappo
A huge team of modders, inspired by forum topics at GTAMaps.net, have recently created a brand new total conversion for San Andreas named You Are Here. The mod completely replaces San Andreas with a whole new game that mixes in horror and adventure.

The game starts when you wake up in an abandoned city, not knowing who or where you are. Nobody else seems to be around, but the area has a creepy vibe to it. To gather information about what's going on, you navigate through buildings and basements to piece together clues. You'll find, though, that you are definitely not alone!

It's pretty cool to see how it was incorporated into San Andreas (almost everything has changed, but features like the aiming in SA have stayed). The only downside to the mod is the broken English in which the script is written, but it's still a fun game to try out and pass the time - hey, it's free! Be sure to make a copy of your original San Andreas folder, though, since this mod makes the actual game unplayable. Enjoy!

4Players reports little change for PC

Grand Theft Auto IV - General News | @ 06:15 PM MDT | By rappo
To those getting their hopes up for big graphical improvements and bug fixes in Grand Theft Auto IV on PC: you may want to lower your expectations! German gaming site 4Players.de got a peek at IV PC during Games Convention in Leipzig and saw that not much has changed.

As they watched a developer play the mission "Three Leaf Clover," 4Players noticed that the biggest improvement for the PC version of GTA IV is the high resolution (maximum 2560x1440 pixels). Even this comes with its drawbacks as it allows you to see some of the game's poorer textures. They mention it's a pity Rockstar Games hasn't made very many technical improvments, but they still believe there is no doubt the game will be a hit (via GTA-Xtreme)

Grand Theft Auto IV - General News | @ 03:39 PM MDT | By Slim Trashman
Microsoft has issued a statement at the Leipzig Games Convention that the first of two downloadable episodes for GTA IV is still coming and scheduled for release this autumn (fall).
"In autumn there will be news from Liberty City; the first episodes of GTA IV will be available for download exclusively on Xbox LIVE, underlining Xbox 360's leadership role in the field of digital entertainment."

No other details were provided, but hopefully we will learn more in these coming months.

Grand Theft Auto IV - General News | @ 12:18 PM MDT | By Slim Trashman
IGN has got their first look at the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV at the Leipzig Games Convention. Here's a a few details we've gathered from the article.
  • Support for both gamepad and keyboard/mouse play.
  • More multiplayer features such as search filters to find your ideal match; more player slots for matches (console is capped at 16).
  • Sharper graphics; the maximum supported screen resolution is 2560x1600.
  • 30 seconds replays will return for both single and multiplayers.
  • The game will feature a montage video editor where you can add different filters and transitions. From there you will be able to upload it to the Rockstar Games Social Club where it can be viewed by all.
  • Fingerless gloves are featured in this screenshot, hopefully to be included in the final build.

Ten screenshots have also been revealed, which are all located on our new GTA IV PC screenshot gallery as well:

Four groovy San Andreas car mods

GTA: San Andreas - Modifications | @ 10:36 PM MDT | By rappo
It's been a while since I've posted modifications on the homepage, but those that follow our GTA mod database closely will know that I've been updating it from time to time with new mods. Today, I added four new San Andreas car mods that will take CJ back to the 1970s:

1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda 440

1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS

1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Ragtop

1971 Chevrolet Impala

The Plymouth Cuda is definitely my favorite out of this bunch, but they're all great additions. Enjoy!

We obviously can't confirm this report, but VG247 seems pretty confident about it, so be sure to keep an eye out sometime between August 20 and 24 for more news. (via GTA4.net)
