Although it was released on June the 10th, this might have passed the attention of many people. A new Premium Xbox 360 theme for The Lost and Damned is now available from the Xbox Live Marketplace for the standard 250MS Points. Here's a video preview to show what you get with the theme:

Side Quest Mod adds Taxi Missions and much more to GTA IV!
UPDATE 6/25: v1.3 of the mod is now available for download.

One of the main criticisms GTA fans had of GTA IV was that after the storyline mission, there isn't much to do in Liberty City. GTA IV scripting modder Nerdook decided to do something about it!

Nerdook's Side Quest Mod v1.2 aims to add more side missions and activities to Liberty City (that don't include darts with your cousin). The main featues of the mod are:
  • Mercenary system that lets you hire recruits that appear on your map as "random people."
  • Randomly generated racing missions.
  • Six types of side missions: assassination, VIP defense, escort services, item/car theft, gang elimination, and prisoner breakout.
  • "Rage meter" that increases as you beat up pedestrians. Pressing TAB starts a bullet time mode that decreases the rage meter each second.
  • Taxi missions that allow you to transport pedestrians for a quick buck.
  • Bus rides that cost $5 to board.

JUNChinatown Wars heading to PSP

Rockstar Games have just announced that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be available for PSP later this year. There aren't any screenshots of the new version yet, but there is news that it will be available both on UMD and from the PlayStation Store on day one.
"We're proud to extend this truly unique handheld Grand Theft Auto experience to PSP and offer a downloadable version of Chinatown Wars for PSP®go," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "Rockstar Leeds has shown incredible talent in creating games that raise the bar in terms of depth and innovation on portables, and with Chinatown Wars we have a rich, fast-paced, and incredibly addictive entry into the series."

"Rockstar's work with the GTA series has been an enormous part of the success of PlayStation platforms," said Jack Tretton, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America. "We're excited to welcome the critically acclaimed Chinatown Wars to the outstanding line-up of great games headed to the PSP platform this fall."

The unfortunate cycle of GTA IV patching and modding continues with the latest update, v1.0.4.0. Aru wasted no time updating his C++ Script Hook for the latest patch, and as a special treat he re-enabled scripting on certain multiplayer modes! Here are some updated downloads:
To get these mods working, you can still use Alexander Blade's ASI Loader v1.0.2.0b, but you MUST update to aru's new C++ Script Hook redistributable. Upgrading to the new Script Hook will be enough to make most v1.0.3.0 ASI mods work with the new patch, I've just repackaged my mods to change the ReadMe's and include the new ScriptHook.dll file for you.

BenBuja, one of the well-known masters of GTA IV films, is at it again with his sixth installment of the "Bloopers, Glitches & Silly Stuff" series that features GTA IV in a more humorous light.

The latest video features both Niko Bellic and Johnny Klebitz engaging in various silly activities around Liberty City:

JUNGTA IV PC Patch 1.0.4.0 released

A new update for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV was released earlier today. It's a small "maintenance" release which brings the game to version 1.0.4.0. The only change noted by Rockstar in the release notes is "resource management adjustments based on the operating system detected".

To get the patch, simply log into Games for Windows Live from GTA IV or download it manually.

In addition to The Lost and Damned Xbox LIVE weekend, Rockstar has also announced that tomorrow night, June 2nd, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM EST, gamers will have the opportunity to play The Lost and Damned with rapper Busta Rhyme, who made multiple appearances on GTA IV radio station The Beat 102.7

Simply log on to Xbox LIVE, start up GTA IV online and keep any eye out for the gamertag "BustaRhymes GWF".

Rockstar Games recently updated their official Facebook page with an announcement of their upcoming GTA IV: The Lost and Damned Xbox Live Weekend.

JUN27th Annual Golden Joystick Awards Nominations

It’s time to choose your winners over at the Golden Joystick Awards as the short list of games have been finalised in their respected categories. And of course Rockstar Games and a few Grand Theft Auto games have been given a nod.

First up, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars has been nominated in both the Handheld Game of the Year and Nintendo Game of the Year categories.

Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned is nominated for Soundtrack of the Year and Xbox Game of the Year awards and Grand Theft Auto IV has been nominated for PC Game of the Year and The Ultimate Game of The Year awards.

Rockstar Games is up for the Publisher of the Year award and in an interesting twist both Rockstar North and Rockstar Leeds are going against each other for UK Developer of the Year.

Now that episode two has been named to the public Rockstar have now launched the placeholder website for the episode just as they did with The Lost and Damned, there isn’t much there at the moment but this site will of course be updated over time.
