New GTA IV PC patch available

Grand Theft Auto IV - General News | @ 06:52 AM MDT | By Neil
The next time you try to play the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV on LIVE you'll be prompted to download an update. Included are many fixes:

GRAPHICS:
Interior Lights for ATI 1900 series cards
- All light sources appear for users with 1900 series ATI cards. (ie. Pool Mini Game)
- ALT-TAB fixed

Graphics Settings
- Added menu option "OFF" for Reflection quality
- Added menu option "OFF" for Shadow quality

PERFORMANCE:
- Physics optimizations to improve situations with heavy physics calculations (ie. 32 player races)
- Graphical Performance Optimizations

MULTIPLAYER:
NAT Type detection
- Detect if user has a "strict" NAT and displays message for user

Voice chat is received even if your microphone is turned off

CONTROLS:
Keyboard/Mouse
- Remapping restrictions removed
- Allow Enter, Backspace, and Arrow keys to be remapped by user
- Allow multiple mouse buttons to be mapped

Enable/Disable DirectInput in Menu
- Users can now activate/deactivate Direct Input devices from "Controls" menu.
- If commandline "-usedirectinput" is active, it will override pause menu setting

Use 2 direct input devices simultaneously (ie. Wheel and Gamepad)
- Users can now use 2 different controllers at once, including 1 XInput and 1 Direct Input device

Added more Direct Input / XInput device support
- Saitek P380/P480/P580/P990
- Saitek PS1000/PS2700/P3200/P3600
- Gravis Eliminator Shock gamepad

SECURITY:
Detect modified files and prevent users from entering multiplayer if found
- Game will prompt with a message after blocking user with modified data files from entering multiplayer
- Should prevent multiplayer access from cell phone and GFWL join in progress

VIDEO EDITOR:
Scroll Bar improved response
- Tweaked to respond better to keyboard inputs

Sped up load times for users with many clips

TITLE UPDATE 2 FIXES:
Return of Hot Dog Stands and other props
- Missing hot dog vendors, fences, gates, pylons should be present throughout the world

Scrolling signboards
- Activate missing scrolling signboard text (ie. highway signs, Star Junction, Clock Tower Sign)

ALT-TAB pauses game during cutscenes
- Cutscenes should now pause and resume correctly after an ALT-TAB task switch. Audio remains in sync

GENERAL ADDITIONS/FIXES:
Mismatched MODO/Perseus Clothing
- Fixed a bug when Niko mixes clothing from Perseus and Modo

360 Controller Texture
- Controller image should be visible in Controller Configuration screen

About mods which were made for 1.0.2.0, these mods wont work on this patch?

No difference whatsoever in performance.

Game still hangs and I need to reboot the entire computer after about 3 minutes of play.

I wonder when Rockstar will actually fix this game to the level that a normal released game standard instead of what feels like an alpha build of a game.

Disaster.

How can RSG extract file from my game. ok no cheating multi player on line, but my native trainer dosent work in single player, to go in and extract files that I use in my game is wrong .Myself and thousands of other enjoy moddes in multiy player for RSG to take this from us is not fair . RSG needs to create servers 4 moddes as manny people played in free mode as any were else if RSG can extract file from my single player game then y can't they just put a detection manager in death match and others like so that cheaters can't enter Young people were using there imagination . computer skills and learning new skills to creat , inner act with others from all over the world also 4 the most part not killing each other. modding thjs far beyond what rsg did. The things i have seen created by fellow modders was mind blowing. lm not supprised after all RSG made a game they new children would play for the langage that in game charictors use was also as disapoing as beeing blocked for modding . modders were just playing having fun NOT KIILLING just playing agin for rsg to block all modders in muli player is not fair PLEZZZZ RSG MAKE US AN AREA TO PLAY WHAT HAS TO BE THE BEST GAME EVER MADE!! I am so sad today im realy going to miss the frends i made hanging out with & modding the airport runway as well a as L.C. that was the best, Yes I can fix my game and go on line its just that killing all the time is not for me and w/o moddes u can't play at the airport stupid cops, hehe flmj............

They haven't extracted files, do you know how trainers work? They depend on a certain exe file, a file which has now been updated and changed with the latest patch so the trainers and loaders now do not recognise the game.

all i have to say is in your face modders.. and im talking about the inconsiderate modders who use god mode and blow up your cars and be retards.. but i know it wont be long until they get past the mod block.

I finally got the 1.0.3.0 patch working and this patch is indeed the best one rockstar has release yet. The performance has a slight improvement which is nice. also even though its not mentioned above in the fixes list, the Internet Cafe now works fine on this patch.

The performance is better now, and the graphics don't totally glitch out and turn black as much as they did before...but the game will only run for about 5 minutes for me before it crashes.

I am actully able to play the game now with this patch, I have a system that is way below the minium to play. (2.66 Ghz Single Core P4, AGP ATI 512MB X1650 Pro, 1792 MB Ram)

But I can play it at around 10-15 FPS (yeah not constantly smooth) with out it chrashing or hanging at all. So this is nice, maybe the can be another patch so I can turn off other stuff I don't need.

Thank god i didnt update im sticking with 1.02 works fine for me untill i see sweet mods for 1.03

It sucks. Singleplayer will be for me forever, unless they were to continue development of ways to detect mods. Where they can detect mods to weapons, bodyguard, transport, and health/armor only, while still leaving such things as camera modes and clothes.

They make me sick.

Well, it would be quite hard for them to detect different mods so it's vastly easier to just ban them all, and I have to admit, Multiplayer has been VERY fun recently until all the hacker got back into it. I suppose they could lift the limit so player.img and weapons.img, etc, are uneffected, but Camera Modes, etc, they're all script based, Script Based = Exploit, Exploit = Some twat in Deathmatch with Invincibility and Rocket Guns.
