GTA IV Guide » Random People
Friends and mission bosses aren't the only people you can meet in GTA IV. Spread throughout Liberty City are 14 random people (also known as random strangers or random characters), some of which you'll meet multiple times. While some of these people are completely new faces, some will be minor characters that you met at some other point in the game, possibly even ones whose lives you spared in past missions.

Random people missions are activated by approaching the small icon of a blue man that will appear on your radar once in a while. Some characters appear only at certain times of day, so be patient! Meeting the 14 characters will get you the Xbox 360 achievement "No More Strangers", and completing all 22 meetings will get you one step closer to 100% status in the game.

Badman

Although you first met Badman at Little Jacob's place, he and Niko never had much time to talk or do business. Luckily for you, Badman is one of the strangers you can meet on the street!

While driving along Dukes Boulevard, the stranger icon will show up again. Head over to it and greet Badman. He'll be ranting about how the Russians are taking over his corner with their drug deals, and Niko offers to "take care" of the problem.

Take Badman to the drug deal location and kill the seven or eight Russians in the alleyway. They're all fairly bunched up, so if you have grenades left over, might as well use a couple! Once they're all dead, Badman will depart with a trademark "one love, rasta!"

After Roman's mission titled It's Your Call, a blue icon in the shape of a man will appear on the radar. If you approach the marked area, a cutscene will begin, introducing you to the first stranger.

You meet Brian, a man who is certainly high on something other than life. He'll tell you about how rich he is, among other nonsense. Before leaving, he'll hand you some money for no apparent reason. Remember the face, though... you'll be seeing more of Brian!
Reward: $100

After Little Jacob's mission titled Shadow another stranger marker will show up on your radar by the safe house.

It's Brian again, there to confirm you former suspicions. He wants you to escort him to a drug deal, make sure everything runs smoothly. You may think it's a good idea to have a weapon handy first, but it's not necessary.

After he gets his coke rock the size of a melon, he'll have you drop him off at a shady part of town. He'll pay you a bit for your troubles.
Reward: $200

While cruising around Broker, you'll see Brian once again on a street corner. He'll update you on his life - he says he's going clean and ending his drug habits. He's engaged now and sorry for what he has done to harm those in his past.

In order to make amends with those he owed financially, however, Brian needs a ride to his former drug dealers. He wants you to come along and overlook the process.

Of course, things go wrong and the drug dealers want some more money out of Brian. Get out of the car and take out the dealers to keep Brian safe. Once they're dead, give Brian a ride back home. He'll spout some advice straight ouf of a self-help book and then reward you for your help.

Cherise

If you didn't kill her during Ruff Rider, Cherise (Dwayne's ex-girlfriend) will appear as a stranger in North Algonquin.

She wants you to know that she was trying to stay away from the life she used to have, but she seems to be attracted to danger. Her new boyfriend is beating her, and Niko opts to take care of the matter, but Cherise begs that you do not kill him.

Take Cherise and drive over to her boyfriend's place. Have a talk with him, he'll eventually pull out a gun and start shooting. If you kill him, Cherise will flip out, insult you, and run away.

Clarence

In north Algonquin you'll stumble across a familiar face. Niko won't recognize him at first, but Clarence will make it clear that he's the guy whose life you spared in Francis McReary's mission Holland Nights (note: if you killed him during the mission, this meeting won't count towards 100% status).

He shows Niko that he's bought a new gun in order to protect himself in the future. However, Niko soon realizes what he intends to do with that gun. Apparently Clarence is more ashamed that he begged for his life than he is grateful that you spared him!

The cutscene will end and Niko will grab some cover. Simply shoot at Clarence from cover until he's dead. Grab the cash that he drops for some well-deserved pay.

Eddie Low

In north Alderney you'll find Eddie hanging out in an alley across from the AutoEroticar center. He's a really creepy guy that has a heavy bag. He needs you to drive to the docks so he can dump the bag, later revealed to be filled with his friends' body parts.

Once he returns to the car, he'll want a ride to Westminster where he can hunt for little boys. Take the creep to where he wants to go and finish the mission.

You'll meet the creeper again hanging around a dark alley in Alderney. He will show his regular craziness by asking Niko if he likes to be spanked. Grossed out, Niko insults Eddie a bit and after a rant about his recent attacks, Eddie decides that he hasn't satisfied his hunger for that night.

Friendly Eddie turns into psychopathic Eddie and he whips out his knife, taking a stab at Niko. This world wasn't meant for Eddie Low, so finish him off to end the mission. Collect whatever money he drops.

Gracie Ancelotti

In Alderney, where you first met her to pick up the pink Feltzer and kidnap her, you'll find Gracie Ancelotti hanging out on her patio. She'll flip out at the sight of you, her kidnapper, and call some guido thugs on you.

Take some cover and take out the five or six guys shooting at you. Once they're all dead the mission will be over and you can pick up the boatloads of cash these men drop!

Hossan

You'll meet Niko's old friend Hossan selling knock-off handbags on the streets of Algonquin. If you were keeping up with your emails, you should have received a message from him in the past. After the two catch up on their lives, Hossan gets a phone call. He has to go over and collect some back pay from a customer.

Drive Hossan over to the meeting point so he can collect the money. When the customer arrives, however, he says that he won't give American money to an illegal immigrant.

After he headbutts Hossan, he hops in his car and speeds away. Chase him down and shoot at him from your car. Once his car gets a beating, he'll try to run on foot. Take him out, grab the money, hop back into your car, and take Hossan to the designated alleyway. Hossan will give you a portion of the pay for the help.

Ilyena Faustin

Contribute Return to top
Over by the Corpse Ride on Firefly Island, you'll find Mrs. Faustin. She and Niko first met and drank tea together during one of Mikhail's missions.

She is now grieving her husband's loss. She admits that he wasn't a good man and things may be better for the city without him, but she is lonely, out of money, and believes her daughter will be traumatized. Obviously, she doesn't know that Niko is responsible for his death, but it's apparent that she's sending him on a guilt trip.

Mrs. Faustin says she needs money, but that Niko can help her out in a different way - by getting her daughter to stop dating a certain "slimeball." Just before you leave, she begs of you to end the killing.

Head over to Shottler and meet the slimeball. Clearly not willing to meet your demands, he tries to run. Your only way to end it is to kill him. You won't get any money for this job, but it's the least you could do for Mrs. Faustin after killing her husband!

Ivan

If you didn't kill Ivan in Vlad's mission Ivan the Not So Terrible, he'll appear as a random person in Alderney later in the game.

Apparently he's a loan shark that wants you to come along on one of his runs. As usual, the people you meet don't want to make their payments. There will be five guys placed on building roofs and balconies. Take all of them out to end the mission. Ivan will pay you for the help.

Jeff

In north Algonquin you'll meet Jeff - a self-proclaimed winner suffering from angina and a hot head. He is convinced that his wife is cheating on him, and he asks you to follow her and another man to take a photo.

Follow the couple to the Superstar Cafe, walk in, and snap a photograph on your phone's camera. Jeff gave you his contact information earlier, so send him the photo and leave the cafe.

Note: This meet-up isn't achieved by finding Jeff on the radar, he'll contact you himself.

Sometime later in the game (for example, after Packie's mission titled Harboring a Grudge) Jeff will call you in need of help. He'll tell you to meet him in a certain parking garage.

Apparently his wife had an "accident" in the kitchen - the kind where she got stabbed fifty times in the chest. Jeff is getting a little crazy, and he needs Niko to dispose of the body. After Jeff calms down and you hop into the car, head over to the specified "drop-off" location.

On the way there, the cops will spot you with the dead body. You have to lose them, which won't be difficult. Once you've shaken the police, head back to the water. Drive towards a cliff leading into the ocean, but hop out of the car before it goes all the way. The car will sink and you'll get the money that Jeff promised you!
Reward: $5,000

You'll find Jeff again hanging near Ray Boccino's shop. He's sitting on a bech looking through some binoculaurs at the building across the street. He'll update you on his life and say that he just wants a friend.

Apparently he's married again, and his new wife is having a drink with her ex in the building he's watching. He asks you to go in there and kill her. Disgusted, Niko declines, and tells Jeff to calm down.

Jeff flips out and runs into the street. He gets run over in the middle of the road and dies. Feel free to pick up the huge amount of cash he drops - he owed you anyway! You probably won't be seeing Jeff around anymore...

Hanging around on a bench in south Algonquin you'll find Marnie. She seems really weak, and she calls out to you for help - she needs some drugs. She then offers to have sex with Niko for $5. Niko refuses but says he can give her some money if that's what she wnats.

Marnie says that what she really needs are drugs, so Niko agrees to give her a ride to her dealer in Alderney. She'll need $500 for her drugs, so once you arrive at the spot you'll give the money to Marnie and she'll run off.

You'll see Marnie, the stressed out heroin junky, roaming the streets of Algonquin again. The two of you exchange insults, but just as Niko is walking away Marnie says she needs some help.

She upset one of her johns, and she thinks that he's going to kill her. In order to escape, Marnie wants to go back home to her parents in the midwest. Give her a ride to the subway station so she can get out of Liberty City.

Niko, feeling generous, will give Marnie $500.

Mel

Underneath Broker Bridge you'll meet Mel - one of the drunk fellows from Comrades Bar (the place you met Vlad to take missions). Like Brian, he's cleaned up his act. He claims that he's off alcohol for good.

He needs one favor, though. He owes some people money due to his former habits, and he needs a ride. Take him up the street to pay the debt. Unfortunately, money isn't going to cut it for the guy, and he's out to kill Mel. Take him out along with his two friends.

Once Mel is safe, take him back under the bridge where you found him. He'll give you the money that he was going to use to pay off the debt.

Pathos

While driving through the busy streets of Algonquin, the blue man icon will appear once again on your radar. This time you'll meet a man named Pathos, an aspiring rapper.

After assuring Niko that he's the real deal, Pathos gets insulted by some thugs heading his way. He runs after them, but can't take on both at the same time, so he ends up getting beaten in the alleyway across the street.

It's your job to cross the road and take out the thugs that are beating up Pathos. Once he's safe, he'll reward you for your help.

Pathos is there to greet you again in the middle of Star Junction. He's still trying to make it on the rap music scene with his latest CD "From Suffering and Back Again." Just as before however, Pathos gets insulted on the streets. This time he gets shot by two thugs.

Help out Pathos by killing the thugs then getting him to the nearest hospital. Once you two make it to the hospital safely, Pathos will thank you and go inside. You won't get any money, but Pathos promises to thank you on his next CD - right after God and his mother. Now that's a priceless reward.

A woman will stop you on the streets of Algonquin to ask you if she's still "got it." She starts ranting about how stunning she is and how expensive her clothes are. But, she doesn't seem to have a car!

Grab a car and take Sara home. On the way she'll give you way too many life details for a stranger. A man at her home may try to fight you when you drop her off, but just point a gun at him and he'll run off. You won't get any money for the mission, but at least you met a new face.

You'll see Sara again at Pier 45, but she won't seem to remember you - she wasn't in the best condition when you last saw her. She needs another favor to be done, though.

Head over to Perseus to pick up her package, they should be expecting someone. When you get there you realize that nobody paid for the package and you have the choice to either pay the $500 or not. If you pay for it, you'll get the package and you can head back to Pier 45 to give it to Sara. She claims it's for a modeling deal, but that's probably not true...
