One of the main criticisms GTA fans had of GTA IV was that after the storyline mission, there isn't much to do in Liberty City. GTA IV scripting modder Nerdook decided to do something about it!

Nerdook's Side Quest Mod v1.2 aims to add more side missions and activities to Liberty City (that don't include darts with your cousin). The main featues of the mod are:

• Mercenary system that lets you hire recruits that appear on your map as "random people."
• Randomly generated racing missions.
• Six types of side missions: assassination, VIP defense, escort services, item/car theft, gang elimination, and prisoner breakout.
• "Rage meter" that increases as you beat up pedestrians. Pressing TAB starts a bullet time mode that decreases the rage meter each second.
• Taxi missions that allow you to transport pedestrians for a quick buck.
• Bus rides that cost $5 to board.

The unfortunate cycle of GTA IV patching and modding continues with the latest update, v1.0.4.0. Aru wasted no time updating his C++ Script Hook for the latest patch, and as a special treat he re-enabled scripting on certain multiplayer modes! Here are some updated downloads:

To get these mods working, you can still use Alexander Blade's ASI Loader v1.0.2.0b, but you MUST update to aru's new C++ Script Hook redistributable. Upgrading to the new Script Hook will be enough to make most v1.0.3.0 ASI mods work with the new patch, I've just repackaged my mods to change the ReadMe's and include the new ScriptHook.dll file for you.

A new update for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV was released earlier today. It's a small "maintenance" release which brings the game to version 1.0.4.0. The only change noted by Rockstar in the release notes is "resource management adjustments based on the operating system detected".

To get the patch, simply log into Games for Windows Live from GTA IV or download it manually.

In addition to The Lost and Damned Xbox LIVE weekend, Rockstar has also announced that tomorrow night, June 2nd, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM EST, gamers will have the opportunity to play The Lost and Damned with rapper Busta Rhyme, who made multiple appearances on GTA IV radio station The Beat 102.7

Simply log on to Xbox LIVE, start up GTA IV online and keep any eye out for the gamertag "BustaRhymes GWF".

Rockstar Games recently updated their official Facebook page with an announcement of their upcoming GTA IV: The Lost and Damned Xbox Live Weekend.

Starting this Friday, June 5th through June 7th, Xbox LIVE users will have the opportunity to win a grand prize entertainment system worth over $3,100 along with a range of other runner-up prizes including Best Buy gift cards, MS points, and LIVE subscriptions.
All you have to do to enter is download the free "Lost and Damned Registration Gamer Picture" and then either play a multiplayer session of Grand Theft Auto IV or download the first downloadable episode, GTA IV: The Lost and Damned. Upon doing so, you will be automatically entered into the sweepstakes.

Now that episode two has been named to the public Rockstar have now launched the placeholder website for the episode just as they did with The Lost and Damned, there isn’t much there at the moment but this site will of course be updated over time.

Rockstar Games just announced the second downloadable episode for GTA IV will be called The Ballad of Gay Tony and will be available this fall. The add-on is priced the same as The Lost and Damned at $19.99 or 1600 Microsoft Points.

"As Luis Lopez, part-time hoodlum and full-time assistant to legendary nightclub impresario Tony Prince (aka "Gay Tony"), players will struggle with the competing loyalties of family and friends, and with the uncertainty about who is real and who is fake in a world in which everyone has a price."

In addition, the company also announced that both The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony will release on a compilation disc which will not require the original game to play. Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City will cost approximately the same amount as buying the two episodes separately.

Both episodes are exclusive to Xbox 360. The company has announced no plans whatsoever to bring them to any other platform.

Rockstar Games just prepared the gaming media for a massive announcement by posting a very simple message to micro blogging service Twitter. The message reads "Details on 2nd episode of GTAIV downloadable content coming soon".

That's all the detail we have for now. No word on how soon they mean, but they do have a habit of making GTA updates on Fridays. What we do know for certain though is that it will be exclusive to Xbox 360 and launch by the end of October.
