MTA: San Andreas

GTAGaming.com - Modifications | @ 06:43 PM CST | By Zidane
The long awaited Multi Theft Auto for San Andreas is finally here! I've taken a couple of hours to try this out with a friend, and let me just say, it was friggin' bitchin'. Though you can do races, games, and free drive, you can't exit vehicles (yet), but the different types of races, games and different tracks you can play in make up for that. Oh yeah, make sure you check out "Break". Here's some random screenshots we took...

Download everything MTASA, here!

One last thing, JMR and I played this in a really good server. We got to know the admin pretty well, and he's a really cool guy. I've decided to give him a little plug for his server, so check it out if you can. IP is 207.44.192.112, port is 22003.

This owns so much. It's ten times smoother than MTAVC could ever be thanks to the Blue Engine they are using. The ingame server system is also a huge improvement IMO.

A job well done by the MTA team indeed. Now we just have to wait for the DM mode. :D

It's fucking AWSOME!
Very little lags, smooth and simple gameplay, and best of all - crazy courses and vehicles!

That server is really good, too.

Even on my cruddy DSL connection it runs smoothly with little lag. Kudos to the MTA team, it was worth the wait! You've done a fantastic job.

The map editor is also very intuitive and easy to use. I've already built one custom map, and will probably make more.

Just as a note to people running the servers--if you're going to run race maps with confined start points, please limit the number of people who can join to a smaller number. Too often already I start a race with 16 or more people in a tiny little room with nowhere to go and get clobbered by every nutjob and his mother racing to the first turn. I either wait for the dust to settle (and get summarily left in it) or I get wiped out before the race has even really started. I would say, as a rule of thumb, to look at the overall track. See how many vehicles can run side by side at the narrowest point, then restrict the number of players to 3x that number (if the narrowest part of the track only allows 3 to run abreast, restrict the total to 9 players)

Looks like I'll be backing up my modded version and re-installing. This looks excellent, look for me on the server mentioned. I'll probably be Husky or something.

I suppose we should wait for their site to come back up before we post our custom maps, huh?

jwrebholz: The site is back up. You can upload your maps at http://center.mtasa.com . Server admins can use the auto downloader to automatically download maps from that site.

Yes, there is free roam. All servers should have it, too.

So, when you download MTA, Does it completly destroy the story of SA so it's just a Multiplayer or does it give 2 options: Play GTA online or Offline

If it destroys the story then I ain't getting it

I don't have SA... would this work on the Second Version. I've heard modding is disabled on the newer versions.

So far MTASA does not work with the patched version, no. But it should shortly. Just to be safe though, I would try to find an older copy if possible.

MTA makes no changes to any of GTA's files. It injects itself into the game whilst it is running. You just start Multi Theft Auto.exe when you want to play MTA and start your standard GTA SA exe when you want to play single player.
