The Leak 2 - Coming Summer 2005

GTA: San Andreas - Community News | @ 02:21 PM MDT | By Neil
San Andreas is in the hands of the pirates. That's the word coming from other GTA websites as this news is written. The PC version is scheduled for retail release in just over a week, but some people would like you to think they have it now.

GTANet (who claim to "trust" the "pirate") have posted some very low quality (well, it wouldn't be piracy if people could afford cameras now, would it?) images of a PC monitor allegedy running San Andreas PC.

We'll have to wait and see whether the images are real and we're expecting a "please don't download it" type statement from Rockstar soon too.

It appears that the information released is false. Sorry for the confusion!

That's how games get into South Asia and South-east Asia regions within just two weeks after release. :-D

i have just seen in a torrent web site that there is one san andras iso but everybody say is fake. It is a big empty file about 1.30GB. everyworld knows that san andreas is more that 3 GB. although it could be a rip without music and sound effects.

Yeah, it's on a DVD, no way it would be only 1.30 GB. Way too small.

I'm glad that there isn't a really a leaked version. That'd "dent" Rockstar's profits, and in turn give 'em less to work with in the future. I'd personally like good quality games, but there are those who don't...

Yeah, same here. It didn't seem like the leak of the PS2 version did much harm, quality-wise, though.

hello the ps2 version was dual layered dvd, that means like 9 GB, a lot more than 1.3 or 3 GB whats the big deal just wait another 12 days, plus most of us already have the ps2 version. I would be more impressed if someone got game footage of Liberty City Stories for PSP, since only the magazine reporters have seen the footage in the rockstar buses at E3*

Yeah, same here SAH. That would take some serious skills to get footage of Liberty City Stories, since Rockstar is being so hush-hush about it.

It will happen sooner or later. Like every good game. Luckily this was false. Anyway, a 3GB file can be compressed into about 500MB, it would take some time to uncompress tho. Also, GTASA was not 9GB, it will not be 9GB.

Yea, i don't know why you people are going "phew" etc. Believe me, it'll be on torrents very soon, just like every other game, ever.I'm sure some people aready have it some were. It's very easy for people to get hold of games pre-release. There are warehouse employees affiliated with the warez community, who's aim is steal games to be cracked and uploaded. btw games around 3/4gb not 9

Jay

R* made multi millions off the ps2 release They made an extremly successful game a leaked version of SA PC won't even dent ther profit so STFU ok jesus.

Like i said before leaked versions are no big deal expecially for a second platform.

Yea they made millions on Sanandreas for PS2, but do you think it was free to make? i'm pretty sure all the music licenses, voice acting, not to mention all the hard work the mappers, programmers, texture artists and so on cost them a few million. The profit is theirs, weather they already have alot of money or not. Also think about it..the more money they make on GTA the more they can invest in the next GTA or any other games to make them as good as they can possibly be.

Dude, never tell me to stfu, stupid fucking noob. Jesus aint real prick.

As rappin said, you think its fucking free to make for pc? You think becuase it aint the first platform they didnt work hard on it. When its leaked for pc alot of peoeple will just download it and forget about buying the game. Its different when its leaked for xbox or ps2, nobody wants to pay for a mod chip. It will be a big deal becuase everyone is waiting for the PC version and said the PS2 version sucked, wich it did.

Jay is completely right :) and if you do not care about a leaked copy, then get a life. Rockstar work so hard on these games for us to enjoy, then people feel the need to steal it or illegally download it? Sad losers.

Jay Squirrel GTASA is not the only game that could/will get leaked, besides it will be on P2P after release. don't act so heroic.... that's pathetic.

People will still buy the game. In some cases leaks of games are good, to determent if your video card compatable or if you have to buy more ram before you buy the game. (like demo versions)

if there isnt any crack. what else can i do. but i bought the original version of vice city for PC wich cost me about 70$ in my country. I would love to buy san andreas because they really deserve it. but i am all out of money right now and i really want to play san andreas. if they sell the game for 20$ i would be happy to buy it like a good CD album. all the content in the box is very nice and smells good but maybe i will buy the next GTA. Since i dont have a ps2 from the day they release the next GTA i will have to probably wait 9 months. and i think that's unfair for PC owners. there there is another reason i dont want to buy it.

you know something that crack a game is very very easy in asia you can find any game you want(except Splinter cell:chaos theory cause it has a very powerful lock). you just pay 1 dollar per CD and depending onm game it's diffrent like Dri3r in 7 CDs is more expensive, it's something very usual. now you can imagine when the cracking does'nt existe the number off solds would increase incredibly Wow
(sorry for bad language cause english is my second language)

I'm going to buy the PC version aswell but that still don't mean people arn't going to get the leaked version its just a matter of time. As for pirating which will always be around you cant stop it so live with it. Dont waste time biching like a lil whor and focus on whats real.

peace

And Jay I can tell who ever the fuk I want to STFU to so go and crawl under that rock you came out of.

This problem is more complex than you think. The piracy isn't started in Asia or East Europe, it starts from the country where the product is released. And as you say it can't be stopped, any protection can be hacked, even starforce or any other it's question of time. The problem is that there are people who can't buy games for that price, there also are people who don't want to buy it even having the money. I think the retailers must have different prices in different areas, for example if they sell the game in US on 49 USD the price for Africa, Latin America Asia etc. must be lower, for example 10 USD or even 5 USD, they can make a simple box, without manuals and instructions to reduce the cost, they will sell a lot more copies in these regions. If companies did that, they will have more income from the regions I've mentioned above. So I think the problem is the price, you can't stop the piracy, but you can reduce the effect.

well said DanKill...

There should be a place where you can RENT pc games... (just kidding) or a place where you can try a PC game BEFORE you buy it... (not all PC games have demos)

Dankill that would be a great idea but it would never happen becuase of shipping conflicts and the more protection software developers put on their products the more sophisticated hacker cracks get so its a rough ride for developers these days. I'm not saying its right to pirate but hey it happens and hundreds of thousands are doing it.

Rockstar did to a good job on all of their GTA games and deseves the credit which they did on the amazing sales of the ps2.

well, i wouldn't worry to much about rockstar not making profits. like all major game companies they take into account potential losses and pump up the price. i bet that at around 30-35 $ they would still make a big profit, but they need to cover losses. besides, they made plenty of profit by making most of their games ps2 exclusive, because console piracy is at a fraction of pc piracy (user needs chips and stuff, and games are huge).

If there was no piracy, there would be no need for the companies to take this into account when they price their games, and they would be more affordable as a result.

In essence, the pirates are stealing our money, as lost profits are passed down to us, the consumers
