Learn About LA, the Reyner Banham way

Grand Theft Auto V - General News | @ 08:35 AM MDT | By Ash_735
As we all know, Grand Theft Auto V will be set in Los Santos and the Southern San Andreas State, based heavily off modern day LA and Southern California, so what can you expect to see? Los Angeles is a huge place with many sprawling districts and outer areas, there's plenty to work with and reproduce for the game. Well, let's take a good look at this, let's do some research about the city itself, the diversity that can be seen there, etc. Here we have an old BBC Documentary, it's 40 years old, it's called Reyner Banham Loves Los Angeles and it follows him as he takes on this tour of the major points of Los Angeles, as he looks into this city on the verge of a major change which became the city we see today.

He touches on key areas such as the divides of the ghettos, the private residential areas, how custom car painting is becoming a growing trend, hell, it even has strippers in it towards the end as they talk about the sunset strip, so yeah, that part does make this Not Safe For Work, you might want to watch this later. If you really want an early look into the Los Angeles as we know it today and have 50 minutes to spare, then I do recommend you guys check this out, the entire documentary can be viewed below for free:

Speaking as a Los Angeles native, I wouldn't take much of this in, as it relates to today. Lol. A lot, and I mean a lot, has changed here since the 1970's. Cool video for outsiders, nonetheless.
