New Ballad of Gay Tony details from IGN, skydiving confirmed

Grand Theft Auto IV - General News | @ 08:00 PM MDT | By Slim Trashman
At this week's GameCrazy event in Las Vegas, a member of IGN's forums, WWKD05, had the opportunity to try out the upcoming GTA IV DLC, The Ballad Of Gay Tony, and was able to confirm a few details on the new missions and gameplay features in their article here.

As depicted in the text and the above image, there is a mission that takes Luis out of a helicopter and parachuting down to a rooftop to infiltrate a building. Another mission takes Luis behind the controls of an all new helicopter armed with a machine gun and rockets to take out a yacht and other smaller boats.

Some new confirmed weapons include a smaller automatic rifle, satchel charges, and a "turret-size" machine gun.

GaMer_123 wanted some new features like nem strip club with Tony dancing -.-

people! realize something! there will never be a GTA IV with all enterable buildings! Don't even ask because ideas like those aren't even answered! If you want a game with ALL enterable buildings play Sims -.- btw, GaMer, what is your wish list to this episode?

My wish list is:

- More character interaction with the environment. Talk to people in the street, sit in a bench, sit in the hood of a car, lay back, smoke, (the funny old feature like farting in the street), open hood and trunk, shoot while driving through the top window of the car, hazzard lights (even Driver had that), more vehicle interaction like fuel, more options with phone and internet cafe
- Garages, parking lots, buyable properties like Test Drive Unlimited

- More 20 cars, 10 new bikes, bicycle, skateboard, one more firetruck and ambulance so as another stretch, one more type of bus, two new helicopters, yatches and of course, car customization
- More 10 weapons - flamethrower, C4, melee weapons, use up objects in the street to hit someone that actualy hurts, smoke grenades, masks, gogles
- Jumb/climb do moves Tomb Raider style
- Parachuting, diving, digging
- Ability to knock/break doors Rainbow Six Las Vegas style
- FPS mode

@rinuextreme, your ideas would seem more realistic for a whole new GTA, rather than just DLC.

- More enterable buildings (restauraunts, police hq, LCFD hq, airport, theatre, cinema, BROADWAY f.e., more bars, prison, museums with people and bigger hospitals, car autoshow room)
- Drive through systems like fast food restaurants
- Side Missios (taxi, bus, limousine driver, escort, rescue, trashman, paramedics, more cops interactivity, fireman, pizza delivery etc)
- Gangs (quick gangs or organize your gang through the history of the game
- More choices on Story Mode that will change the game storyline

SlimTrashman, I know but let me finish, can't stop now xD

- Whole game in different parts of the world. Miami, Greece and Brazil, for example.
- Planes, therefore, more airports
- Easier and Bigger Video Editor system
- Two or three "Independence FM's" according to different music styles

And I'd keep on and on all day and night (at least until I run out of ideas). But see, it's all doable things in a very close future like 2 or 3 years when the next GTA is launched, hopefully.

The problem with such an open game like GTA is that the ideas never stop coming. I have the same problem sometimes ;)

I don't care if the next game will take 30GB on my hard disk, as long as it be the most enjoyable and popular game of the world. And since then, it's non-stop evolution.

About the DLC is only available for XBOX 360, that's only temporary. Both Microsoft and Rockstar want to sell more console products for two simple reasons: more expensive games and a lot less piracy. Remember, GTA IV took 7 months to be released on the PC. And both companies aren't stupid, they know they can explore much more the PC.

And believe, they will.

To SlimTrashman, I totally agree with you. But 10 years ago, YOU needed to insert a commandline YOURSELF in order to eject the disket, remember?

That means technology has evolved a lot and will never stop (you already knew that, of course).
So, GTA era will have very very time to evolute and embbed all those features among with the years, as the time passes.

Skydiving? Okay, can I go skydiving whenever I want?

If so, good, but I need more if I were to get this.

I'd need much more content. Story is good, but once again. Story has an ending. Tanks, apache helicopters, and the military do also, but you can make 'em last as long as you possibly like to.

I sure hope the next game brings back the excitement the previous installment in the GTA series has. This DLC just severely disappoints me.

The DLC fixes none of the (many) fundamental flaws with the GTA IV game... they're just life extenders and not very good selling ones at that. I want to see them get over testing the RAGE engine and get comfortable with the nature of the gameplay. I want stuff to do once I beat the story... IV had none of that and Lost and Damned didn't either.

Also their storytelling is getting a little annoying. A lot of the characters in Lost and Damned were just plain lame and a lot of the humor in IV was kind of juvenile (especially with the Packie character). Niko wasn't authentic to the type of personality at all and I'm hoping they get back to the more familiar territory.

@chrisandy: And I've never seen you say one positive thing. I'd ask you what previous GTA games had that made them longer after the story but I really can't be bothered with you anymore as you're just constantly moaning about whatever they give us, go back to playing San Andreas if you hate the GTA4 era soo much.

It's not a matter of being pissed off, or not. It's a matter of agreement or disagreement. We all have our opinion as well. Nemy's opinion is that one. I agree with him but only a bit. I think people abuse of R* instead of using up what they were provided with. Don't complain, suggest. And most of all, say "thank you" at R* once for all for giving us such a great game.

Be mature.

Ash,

I tried responding to your post but I was 2000 characters over the post limit.

Suffice to say I'll continue to post my opinion which has no more or no less weight than everyone'e else's save the fact I don't want to constantly praise R* when praise isn't due.

"Don't complain, suggest. And most of all, say "thank you" at R* once for all for giving us such a great game."

I didn't realize R* was selling GTA IV and it's DLC for free and that as consumers no one has a right to criticize the product. I know this is a fansite but do we really need people to constantly suck R*'s dick?

It's not a matter of greasing Rockstar. It's a matter of respect for what they did, and we all should thank Rockstar for this great era that GTA is. Of course, we should "criticize" some points in order to hope that Rockstar developers read them and try to improve actual GTA games or the next ones. I would bet my life as Rockstar is already programing the new GTA (Grand Theft Auto V or whatever) and they need some support and opinions from the fans. However, we should suggest, NOT constantly criticizing their work.

@chrisandy: I'm not saying we should blind praise them, I criticise to, but for good reason, I haven't seen you say one positive thing at all about the GTA4 series of games and I'm confused as what you want them to add so it'll at least be a standard good game to you.

Before TLAD people complained about Bikes, Friends and not enough power weapons, which was then fixed in TLAD along with extending gameplay with the Road Rash style Biker Races and Gang Wars which worked even better than the system used in San Andreas.

Still people complained again about GTA4 saying it didn't have PARACHUTES, that was a main complaint on forums, not enough rich things, yachts, good helicopters and planes, etc, with TBOGT it looks like they've managed to get some of that stuff back into the game. So they're aiming to please the people who asked for that.

So chrisandy, what would it take for you? I know Anemys, he once said that he didn't care about Story, Weapons or Music, etc, he just wants a Tank, and that he'd pay full price again just to get a tank in the game.

@ASh_735: I ain't saying that I'd pay full price again for a tank (which is quite insulting). I would just like more exciting gameplay. Stories are nice, very nice. That's the reason I loved Mass Effect, the story was compelling and it had it's exciting side projects. This game doesn't have enough. After the story, there was multiplayer, but it didn't keep me coming back for more. So after 3 weeks of GTA IV on the 360, I stopped playing and moved on. The PC version kept me on for much longer because I could make music video machinima movies on it. Also the cheats and mods were great life extenders.

I just feel the DLC needs more spark. Needs the action that San Andreas had. I ain't saying, "Shit on R* games, they suck balls for the DLC." I ain't going even near that. I'm just saying that they should get more than a story, couple more weapons/vehicles, and call it finished. As demanding it may sound, I'd like more than the little they seem to give. Spending 6-10 months to develop a spin-off of the original GTA IV. I'd like for 3-4 months of developing some of the smaller things that made the other trilogy so fantastic and addictive. I think they lost the great stuff that kept me going back on the previous ones out of the current game.

I love GTA IV. I am just not a fan of their current releases that go in stride with the GTA IV. I'd like for them to not build upon the main story and instead add in some good-quality fun.

@BLAQCAPONE: If your pissed at me, you could go ahead and yell your head off about how much you think im a twat. It's only my opinion, I'd like it if you respect it enough not to bring an immature mentality into the room. Sorry if I pissed you off.

---
Obviously, I am disappointed.

Well I guess we'll have to put this down to "they can't please everyone", personally for me,up to now I prefer The Lost and Damned cause good rock music, Biker Gangs and those Road Rash races are just fun and keep me playing TLAD over GTA4 once completed. I guess you and chrisandy will have to wait until R* decide to throw in the things that you guys deem fun. Don't get me wrong, GTA4 IS boring once you finish the story, even more so after 100%, but looking back at San Andreas and what they've brought in the DLC, there's only few things left that are fun in San Andreas.

I dont get it, san andreas sucks!!! GTAIV is the shit!!! U ppl just expect too much from your video games now a days, but its only a game!! they cant change the world its only for entertainment. I dont get why everyone compares san andreas to GTAIV they're the same thing except GTAIV has all the cool features. forget everything else that fact that this game has euphoria makes it the shit, the way ppl react and fall, not to mention i have never played a game with the car damage as realistic as GTAIV is.

You just don't get it, man. Obviously GTA IV was a totally evolution and a brand new world and experience. Except, it's missing the good old tanks and planes and karts, caravans, car customization, etc. Except, you dont see planes in a city with only one airport (Dodo would be fun), tanks and caravans in NY. Car customization would complete the game if it was included in TBOGT.

its not like they can add crap like that its only an expansion. They would have to rewrite code and crap and its prolly just too much work for an expansion, like all enterable buildings and car customization who cares? ur car always gets damaged it'd be pointless it was dumb in san andreas and would be pointless in IV
