Other than aesthetics is there anything different about these cars?

It's a vehicle mod, so i'm guessing it does the same since it's been going on GTA3. Replaces or adds a new vehicle with a brand new texture or model.

Most of the time the quality is better than the stock cars added into the game by Rockstar.

yep and be sure you use Sparks IV - 0.6.2.2, it's the only IMG editor I know of that works on 1.0.4.0 Patch

yeah these mods are cool, can't wait to see tons of them. as Oleg (Zmodeler2 author) says, the GTA-IV's export filter needs an update and his working of it. the problem of this export filter is the damages of vehicles and will be fixed (mods take less damage than their original ones)

chrisandy: what xan said. also most of the cars come with custom handling so that they better fit the actual car. for instance, if somebody were to make a drifting car they could supply a handling line that is more suited for drifting.

is there any way to ADD vehicles to the game instead of replacing them? And if not, why not?

@rinuextreme

no you can't add additional vehicles because the game isn't coded to detect them, the only way is to replace the model of an original vehicle. It's been like this for all the GTA games that have car mods.

actually there are ways to add cars to GTA games, i remember doing it with vice city and i'm pretty sure it's possible with san andreas too. i forget what steps there were, but i have a feeling there is a tool or two missing for GTA IV which is preventing us from doing that. if i remember correctly you had to make some SCM changes in vice city to add a new vehicle

Wow. Each time I come here, there's more and more vehicle mod's for GTA IV! I wouldn't be surprised if we have around 100 or more by the end of 2009!

Now, a tank would be a totally awesome mod'! It could work quite well, considering the vehicle damage is oh-so realistic, a tank in GTA IV could actually more or less flatten vehicles it runs over, rather than just blowing them up as in previous GTA games. It'd also be really epic if a tank mod' was made that drives around on actual running, animated treadmills, just as in real life.

I'm betting SOMEONE will make one, on day. The thing is though, what vehicle would the tank replace? A heavy vehicle like one of the big semis in the game? Hmmm....

Anyway, the GTA IV vehicle mod's so far are spectacular, and I can't wait for more to come!

Yeah, hehe, but the Trashmaster is used by the bin men and it wouldn't be very fitting for them to drive a tank to simply collect / empty the bins, LOL.

Also, you'd have to sort out the game coding so it tells the game NOT to load two random bin men at the rear of the vehicle, otherwise that'd look totally wrong, and could even make the game crash.

I say use the semis because there will only ever be one or two drivers in it, it isn't used for any 'real' purpose other than to drive around, it is very heavy, and already has kind-of tank controls. (Although much tweaking of this would be needed for ultimate tank like control.)

A tank could instead be added as a totally new vehicle, (Not replace any current game vehicle.) however that would require some other scripts and coding being altered to make adding new vehicles a possibility, like rappo mentioned some comments above.
