New IV PC screenshots and recommended requirements revealed

Grand Theft Auto IV - General News | @ 07:33 PM CST | By Ash_735 + rappo
UPDATE: The following information has been removed from the Games for Windows website and replaced with "Coming soon." The exact reason for the removal is unknown.

The Games for Windows website now has a section up for Grand Theft Auto IV, which includes the already seen screenshots of the PC version and a couple new ones shown below, a short description of the game, the ESRB rating, and the game's recommended PC requirements:
  • OS: Windows XP SP2
  • Processor: Dual core processor (Intel Pentium D or better)
  • RAM: 2GB
  • Hard Drive: 18GB free hard disk space
  • Video Card: 512MB Direct3D 10 compatible video card or Direct3D 9 card compatible with Shader
  • Drive: DVD-ROM dual-layer drive

The following are two new, albeit small resolution, screenshots from the PC version:

Thanks to VISALI for pointing these out!

Hell Yea! love those recommended requirements (I'm only a bit short on video ram)

AMD 4200+ dual core, 2GB DDR, 320MB 8800 GTS should run great with it :D

Oh my... GTA IV.... 18 GB?!

Woah. Luckily, I have 2GB RAM, Dual Core Processor, but I guess I'm gotta have to upgrade that graphics card of mine, which is only NVidia GeForce 8600GT with 256MB of VRAM. Argh.

Wow XP is recommended over Vista here! Assuming this is accurate, all I need to do (and would have anyway) is upgrade my graphics card. I've got a 600GB HDD with plenty of free space so 18GB is no problem, that is a lot though!

My 2.0GHz Penitum IV + 128Mb nVidia GeForce FX5200 + 512Mb RAM probably won't stand up very well ;)

it will if you don't mind 1fps rappo ;) hehe

and don't take the hardrive space requirement seriously guys, I seen them say that big before, yet the final product is like half that

example: Crysis said 12GB at first, but the final game was 6GB

I think actually at 1 fps you'll get a much better look into the detail of the game and appreciate it more than most, providing an even better experience!

I think there is something strange

IF DX10 card is recommanded, why not vista??
Only vista support dx10
So if this is the case, dx9 card will do

Or if this is just minimum requirement

Looks like I won't be able to even reach minimum specs with my current graphics card.

Something I realised though. If this game can be modded, the modders have to do their best to make the car actually look good. With previous GTA games, it didn't really matter if there wasn't a lot of polys as long as it looked decent in the game. With this game, they have to get a lot of detail in, or the modded part would stick out like a sore thumb.

It's because the data will most likely more uncompressed than the 360 Version.

Good thing my PC surpasses those requirements! I'm all set. I have over 200gb free, so 18gigs isnt a problem for me at all. But wow, biggest game i've installed so far!

its bigger on PC because uncompressed data is easier on the system performance, if it has to uncompress it as you play the game, it will run slower.

Haven't upgraded in three years. Need a new processor, and another gig of RAM. Plenty of HD space though.

Looks like I'm going shopping, gentlemen.

Though the PS3 version of GTA4 was only 10.4GB, was that compressed as well? Though I'm not to worry on space rather than actual hardware. I have a 512MB 7600GT but only 1GB of RAM and an Athlon 64 2800+. It should be interesting to see how it'll run on my PC, and besides that's only the recommended requirements. I'm sure minimum is half of that, or at least I hope :S

I'm not sure, but doesn't San Andreas lag for you on 1280x1024 with max AA? That card isn't exactly a shining jewel.

a 256MB 6800 GT was my previous card and I was able to do that Resolution with Max AA Xan, the 7600 GT is slightly slower than that so it might.

GTA4 performance on his specs won't be good though

Lol, of course it won't. After reading what I wrote, I kinda made it look like I meant that my computer is good enough but I wasn't. I'm upgrading my computer fully by this next March and I'll have a good $1200 budget. That should be more than enough to by a very decent PC to play GTA4 at that resolution/AA.

I guess I'm gonna miss out on the mods for about five months but the same happened when GTA: SA was pulled off shelves a few months after it was released. I'm gonna buy it when it comes out, just in case some other crap makes it come off the shelves again.

Info taken down, bullshit was predicted due to the XP and DX10 cock-up. I think after taking the info down, info was truf, hopefully the real specs will emerge soon.
