Boxart reveals PC version of GTA IV will be GFW LIVE

Grand Theft Auto IV - General News | @ 02:46 PM MDT | By Neil
Here's one we missed earlier in the week. Alongside the announcement that GTA IV will be making its way to PC, Rockstar also sent out a boxart image for the new version of the game. The picture reveals that the game will ship with Games for Windows branding, and most significantly it shows that it will also be LIVE enabled.

While Games for Windows LIVE has been the recipient of much criticism in the past, it received a boost last month when Microsoft made it free for both developers and players to use. There's no word on whether cross platform play between the Xbox 360 and PC versions will be supported, however.

Also worth noting is the fact that Microsoft also revealed that the service will be receiving its own Marketplace where players can buy items related to their games. This may well pave the way for the sale of the downloadable content for GTA IV.

How was this missed?

I noticed this on the Rockstar GTA IV site straight after the release on PC was announced, it is next to the PS3/XBox Live logos down the bottom.

I just found out that LIVE for windows is now completely free. Funny it came from gtagaming.

No more paying the price of gold just to have to host a server on H2 PC. Can't wait for GTA4 on PC either.

It should still work with Windows XP, but you wont get to play with DX10 graphics. I'm excited about this news. I bought a new PC just for this game! =]

you know what this means , now ps3 and xbox 360 fanboys are going to have to stop fighting because, PC's gonna have free LIVE, mods, and more! Now they're going to have to stop fighting, but honestly I have a 360 and its the same, graphics are just as good as Ps3 and same for the other way around.
