PS3 GTA IV gets patched

Grand Theft Auto IV - General News | @ 03:17 PM MDT | By Neil
PatchLooks like Rockstar is finally getting serious with the issues which have plagued their two most recent next-generation titles. While buyers of the Xbox 360 version of Bully: Scholarship Edition had to wait more than a week for a resolution to their freezing problems, owners of the PS3 version of GTA IV have greater luck.

Rockstar just released the v1.01 patch for GTA IV on PS3. It's 18MB, and according to reports on our forums, the servers that are being used to distribute it are almost as overloaded as the Social Club, so you'll have to be patient on this one. You'll be prompted to download the update the next time you play the game with your PS3 connected to PlayStation Network.

Rockstar Games has said that it "apologizes for the inconvenience caused", although with a tester list as long as the one on GTA IV (check the credits in your manual) we have to wonder just how effective those people who were hired to perform quality assurance on this title were.

I don't think the 360 version has the same critical bug, most of the patch is gamespy related and the 360 doesn't use gamespy. There are some minor bugs that could be fixed. If the 360 version is crashing for you then it may be a hardware problem.
