GTA IV technical Q&A

Grand Theft Auto IV - General News | @ 11:41 AM MDT | By Slim Trashman
One of our members, PHiLCORE, has posted a very informative Q&A for GTA IV concerning technical limitations and features as well as some extra bits of information.

Something that stood out was that if you're not liking the sound of the new control scheme from what you've heard so far, you can switch to the classic control scheme by pausing the game and scrolling to Controls and toggling Classic Mode on.

Read the GTA IV Technical Q&A. Thanks, Phil!

Wow. Three and a half gigabytes for the PS3 install. That's pretty annoying. If you buy GT5P and GTA4 then you'll be losing around 9.5GB of your drive. Feel sorry for the folks who bought the 20GB models!

I'll quote Phil here:

"yeh its pretty big, but once its done load times are short in the game, the only lengthy load time is the initial load sequence when continuing the game from a save"

Fact is (and proof above), that the PS3 version has an installation so data can be read quicker, this is not mandatory (or even an option) on the 360 version because unlike the PS3, not all 360's have hard drives to store the data on. We've waited 2 years of GTA IV, an extra 7 minutes won't kill us or make the "rival" version any better.

Yawn, 7.5gb is nothing to my PS3's 250gb 2.5 SATA2 drive....gotta love expandability that isn't tied to expensive first party addons, like 100 buck WiFi or 200 buck HDDs...*cough*360*cough*

One of things I would like to know is "Exactly how many vehicles are in the game?"

Spot on man, but even after the install the initial load times are shortend but youll be lucky if its more than a minute knocked off initial load time (on PS3 game boot up) but its in the game where you will notice it the most.

I have to be honest and say I dont know, as stated in my Q&A there is going to be a brady games walkthrough and no doubt they will be listed in there, but one thing I can say there seems to be different models of some cars in the game say for example a standard, luxury and sport model for some cars dont know this for sure so dont quote me on that.

Okay, I'll just look at the BradyGuide for this game and find that out. I'm sure it lists all of the vehicles. I never saw the guide for San Andreas but did have the guide for Vice City and it did have a complete list.

I hate Microsoft for not allowing option installs. It really makes me mad.
They have a powerful system but cut off one of it's balls by releasing a Core System that is virtually useless. Good going M$.
