Rockstar Games titles arrive on Steam

GTA: San Andreas - General News | @ 03:23 PM MDT | By Neil
Valve SteamFollowing an earlier deal with IGN's Direct2Drive, Rockstar Games today announced that Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City and San Andreas are now available via popular download service Steam.

The titles form a $43.45 Grand Theft Auto Collection which also includes two earlier titles in the series - Grand Theft Auto and Grand Theft Auto 2. Although these two titles were made available for free by the company in the past, this is the first time that all of these titles have been bundled together.

Additional titles from the company which are now available on Steam include Max Payne 1 + 2, Manhunt and Midnight Club 2. All of the company's Steam games can be purchased in the Rockstar Collection for $69.95. As an introductory offer, all games are discounted by 10% until January 11.

The only downside here is dealing with Steam.

And since I never could get Steam to work right on this blasted thing, I think I'll pass.

What the status with mods running on the Steam versions? It's always fun to mess around with silly mods, and I'd be irked if they didn't work with these versions.

I bought Manhunt through Steam and it looks like all the original files are there to see/edit. I'm sure the same goes for all the other games, certainly GTA (don't expect San Andreas to be modable, though). Steam will put all the game files in Steam Folder\steamapps\common\Game Folder.
