The Lost and Damned giveaway reminder + Amazon deal

Grand Theft Auto IV - Website Updates | @ 01:30 AM MDT | By rappo
I wanted to take the opporunity of a slow news day to remind all the site visitors about our GTA IV: The Lost and Damned giveaway, where we are giving five contestants 1,600 Microsoft Points each in order to purchase GTA IV's new downloadable content arriving February 17th. All you need is a GTAGaming account and an Xbox Live ID to sign up!

However, for those that are not yet Xbox Live users, I'd like to bring to your attention a great deal at Amazon.com. If you scroll down to "Best Value" you'll see The Lost and Damned + 3 months of Xbox Live Gold for only $20 (that's free Xbox Live!). So if you've wanted to play The Lost and Damned but don't feel like committing to an Xbox Live contract, this three month deal is definitely a great value.

Next are several pieces of information starting with a report from Variety.com stating that Rockstar is switching its ZiT music partnership from Amazon to iTunes now that iTunes has gone DRM-free. Rumors have been flying the past couple weeks that the next GTA will be made for the iPhone, and this new partnership definitely helps that idea's case!

Game retailer Gamestop.com has also updated their page for The Lost and Damend Official Strategy Guide to reveal some interesting information about features in the DLC (including new random characters and side missions):
  • Missions: Maps and strategy for all missions plus complete coverage of the new Odd jobs, Bike Thefts, Gang Wars, Random Characters and other activities required to achieve 100% completion
  • Maps: Score health, armor and weapons no matter where you are. Our maps show you where to find them in every mission. Pick-ups, collectibles, places of interest…everything you need!
  • Secrets: our detailed collection of maps and descriptions reveal precise locations for all Sea Gulls hidden around Liberty City.
  • Vehicle Showroom: Details on every ride in Liberty City
  • Multi-player: complete coverage of the new modes of multiplayer

And finally, the official GTA IV website has been updated to include a piece on Congressman Thomas Stubbs. Stubbs, who will no doubt be getting a part in The Lost and Damned, apparently has a Twitter account as well, where you can follow all of his patriotic antics.

Thanks to -=}{oT~dEv1L 666=- for all the information!

IGN has just published an article detailing the new multiplayer modes in The Lost and Damned. Here is a summary of the new information:
  • The multiplayer modes will feature new character models along with the new weapons and vehicles from The Lost and Damned.
  • One new game type called Witness Protection has you play on two teams: The Lost gang and a set N.O.O.S.E. officers. The N.O.O.S.E. have to deliver three witnesses to the police station while The Lost have to kill the witnesses.
  • Another mode called Own the City is like a gang territory war. Each team tries to obtain as much territory as possible, and a group of NPC's will try to protect your land when you're out getting some more.
  • The new racing mode is similar to the classic game Road Rash: you are to travel through checkpoints atop a motorcycle while beating down your opponents with a baseball bat.
  • The Lone Wolf Biker mode is similar to an "oddball" mode, where one player is the Lone Wolf and it's everybody else's job to kill him. The Lone Wolf that lasts the longest wins.
  • Another mode called Chopper vs. Chopper is played by two people: one on a motorcycle and the other in a helicopter. The motorcycle rider's task is to reach checkpoints throughout the city while the helicopter pilot's job is to kill the motorcycle rider!
  • The last mode titled Club Business will feature every member of The Lost, and the gang will be given random tasks to complete throughout the city.
The IGN preview came with about 17 new screenshots including shots from the new multiplayer modes. Some of the new character models and outfits are shown:

The Lost and Damned Trip Report

Grand Theft Auto IV - Community News | @ 12:52 AM MDT | By Kodo + Zidane
Last week, Zidane and myself were invited by Rockstar for an exclusive Lost and Damned event at Don Hill's in New York City. The event took place on Feb 10 and Feb 11. Skipping all the travel and hotel stuff, the Lost and Damned event went something like this..

A large black van waits outside the hotel to carry all the GTA webmasters over to Don Hill's. Upon arrival, we are greeted at the door by R* who says they aren't done setting up inside. There's some serious security, too, so the 10 of us wait in a circle on the sidewalk. We have some mindless chatter outside while we eagerly await the real deal happening inside.

Tweny minutes pass before R* lets us inside. Walking through the dark entryway, we walk into a biker themed bar with tattoo decorations on the wall and two motorcycles on the stage. The Lost and Damned trailers are playing on HDTVs high above the bar along side Rockstar and Xbox projections on the wall. Of course you can't miss about 10 gaming station set up, each with chairs, an Xbox 360, and Lost and Damned playing on the giant TV. Rockstar says, "What are you looking around for? Start playing!"

We take our seats and pickup the controls, jumping right into the beginning of story mode. The first mission has Johnny picking up the club's new president, who is fresh out of jail, and riding him back to the clubhouse. Rockstar knows you are familiar with the game by now, so there aren't hours of tutorial missions. Nope, now you start right into the fray and it's great. The next mission has you riding with your gang to a firefight against 20 other bikers of a rival game. There is a new feature while in transit to mission locations. If you ride in formation behind the biker president, a "Lost" logo appears on the street and gives you health for staying with it. We played several other missions that involved stealing motorcycles, killing some feds, or burning a club and stealing heroin from it.

We couldn't take any pictures of the game,
enjoy the skyline.
Next we tried the new multiplayer games. First we do a simple deathmatch in the prison, except with the new grenade launchers. It's pretty tough to grenade someone on the run, and it proved easier to sneak up and knife people. Next we try out a new mode called Lone Wolf, where one biker is "It" while the other players hunt him down and kill him to become the new Lone Wolf. It was a blast riding in a pack of hunters, firing off uzis at the guy in front. It's so loud as the whole bar is screaming with gunfire from all the TVs. This is easily the most intense new multiplayer scenario. Other new games include a Lost vs NOOSE, helicopter vs. motorcycle, and a really fun GTA Race on bikes where you can use baseball bats to knock other riders off.

The event ended with Rockstar and Microsoft handing out Xbox Elites with custom Lost and Damned artwork to the attendees. We'll get a picture up soon. Overall we are very impressed with the quality of Lost and Damned and the new perspective it provides. New missions, storyline, guns, music, multiplayer games, vehicles, and modified bike physics are all great things. Rockstar did a tremendous job with the new content and we are so grateful for the opportunity to play it.
