AUGGTA IV's Xbox 360 installation is 6.8GB
Grand Theft Auto IV - General News | @ 01:43 PM MDT | By Neil
If you've been following general gaming news over the past few weeks, you'll no doubt have stumbled upon word that Xbox 360 is gaining a bunch of new features - including the ability to install games entirely to the console's hard drive - later this year.
The option should speed up loading times, even though the game disc must be in the drive for verification each time you wish to play. Until now there wasn't much to see or read about this feature, but YouTube user WarriorSan has uploaded a video showing the process for GTA IV:
The final install will be around 6.8GB. This isn't really surprising as the process merely copies the game data in its entirety across to the hard drive. It seems that you'll need a 120GB drive or one of the new 60GB consoles if you really want to take advantage.
AUGBoxart reveals PC version of GTA IV will be GFW LIVE
Grand Theft Auto IV - General News | @ 02:46 PM MDT | By Neil
Here's one we missed earlier in the week. Alongside the announcement that GTA IV will be making its way to PC, Rockstar also sent out a boxart image for the new version of the game. The picture reveals that the game will ship with Games for Windows branding, and most significantly it shows that it will also be LIVE enabled.
While Games for Windows LIVE has been the recipient of much criticism in the past, it received a boost last month when Microsoft made it free for both developers and players to use. There's no word on whether cross platform play between the Xbox 360 and PC versions will be supported, however.
Also worth noting is the fact that Microsoft also revealed that the service will be receiving its own Marketplace where players can buy items related to their games. This may well pave the way for the sale of the downloadable content for GTA IV.
AUGDilettante named after video game violence researcher
Grand Theft Auto IV - General News | @ 09:13 PM MDT | By rappo
Although this article has been published for about a month now, it doesn't seem to have made the rounds in the GTA community yet. It's been in the back of most of our minds, but we never cared to search - what the heck is a Karin Dilettante? Our sleepless nights are over, thanks to the Chronicle of Higher Education.
The Karin Dilettante, Liberty City's favorite hybrid, takes its name from Karen Dill, an "associate professor of psychology at Lenoir-Rhyne College" who spent the latter part of the 1990's researching video games and their link to aggression and violence.
Ms. Dill says she couldn't believe that Rockstar Games, the maker of Grand Theft Auto, had taken the trouble to name a car for her: "I was kind of like, whoa, they actually do care about video game research." ...
She was just relieved she wasn't a prostitute.
Rockstar Games hasn't commented on the connection, but it seems like too much of a coincidence to not be one of Rockstar's sly tricks and jabs at its critics.
AUGDevelop's interview with Sam Houser
GTAGaming.com - Rockstar/Take2 News | @ 08:07 PM MDT | By ash_735
With news being slow recently, Develop Magazine has put out an exclusive interview they’ve had with Rockstar Games president Sam Houser. This interview is definitely an interesting read to pass the time and even contains a slight tease regarding Grand Theft Auto IV’s Episodic Content.
DM: Rockstar committed to episodic content for GTA before GTA IV was finished; how did that impact the way you write and plan for the first GTA IV game?
SH: You’ll see in a few months.

Japanese website Dengeki Online has put up an article announcing the release date for Grand Theft Auto IV in Japan as October 30, 2008.
Like Japanese GTA games in the past, this version of GTA IV will be published by Capcom. The game received a CERO rating of Z, equivalent to ESRB's AO and PEGI's 18+ rating.
Update: Dengeki's article has now been followed up with an official Take 2 Games press release, confirming the previously reported information.
AUGVG247 expects GTA IV PC to premiere in Leipzig
Grand Theft Auto IV - General News | @ 04:53 PM MDT | By rappo
Gaming blog videogaming247 claims a reliable source informed them that the PC version of GTA IV will be shown to a private audience at Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany next week. We obviously can't confirm this report, but VG247 seems pretty confident about it, so be sure to keep an eye out sometime between August 20 and 24 for more news. (via GTA4.net)
