Grand Theft Auto IV - General News | @ 02:55 PM CST | By Neil
Computer and Video Games today confirmed that it will publish a new preview of Grand Theft Auto IV tomorrow at 5:30pm GMT (what time is that where I am?). Previous reports indicated that members of the press visited Rockstar recently and received a lengthy preview of the game, the contents of which are embargoed until tomorrow. CVG also confirms that its article will be accompanied by new screenshots and it is said to be only one of many, with sites such as IGN also providing unofficial confirmations that an article is being readied.
As usual, GTAGaming will provide full coverage of the new information and imagery.
JANNew wave of GTA IV previews and screenshots
Grand Theft Auto IV - General News | @ 11:30 AM CST | By Neil
Rockstar Games recently provided members of the media with another preview of Grand Theft Auto IV. A number of websites and magazines attended the demonstrations at the company's offices and today the embargo covering these previews was lifted. Ten new screenshots accompany the previews.
New information about the game has appeared on IGN UK, IGN USA, Computer and Video Games, GamesRadar, Kikizo, Team Xbox, GamePro, Gamespot, and VideoGamer.com. As usual, the most in depth preview comes from Kikizo with their 8-page preview including every detail they had time to note down during the 90 minute hands off presentation.

GTA IV still has no firm release date yet but the media will receive one further preview of the game in around one month's time. Previous reports have indicated that the game will ship in the final week of April and Rockstar did not rule this out during their presentation. GamePro claims that the game's online multiplayer mode will be revealed in "mid February to early March".
JANGTA IV coming April 29
Grand Theft Auto IV - General News | @ 08:07 AM CST | By victim
Rockstar Games have announced the release date for Grand Theft Auto Iv, which was delayed in August of last year.
Both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game will be available in stores worldwide on April 29th. The release date is the last Tuesday in April which indicates that the company wants to take as much time as possible to polish the game. Previously, the release date had been pegged as late April. In announcing the date today the company also released one new piece of artwork of Niko Bellic, which appears to the right.
"We are so excited to be releasing Grand Theft Auto IV. We've pushed ourselves very hard to make something incredible and hope the game sets a new benchmark for interactive entertainment."

JANRockstar speaks openly about GTA IV delay
Grand Theft Auto IV - General News | @ 05:29 PM CST | By Neil
Jeronimo Barrera is President of Product Development at Rockstar Games in New York. He recently sat down and spoke with MTV and spoke openly about the delay that Grand Theft Auto IV suffered:
"It's really no surprise to anybody that the PS3 was definitely a contributing factor to that. Now, we're neck and neck. That's not an issue anymore. But back then that was something we were taking into account. That's not to say there's anything wrong with the PS3 version. It's awesome. They're both identical."
Barrera also believes that the delay the game suffered makes it "stronger" and offered confirmation that the Xbox 360 version of the game will not require a hard drive as has been rumored for some time. MTV also revealed that cheat codes will again make an appearance:
"For gamers who only want to cause havoc, the game will offer that and the standard amount of weapon-unlock cheat codes."
Those hoping for a free trial of the game before or even after release may be disappointed. Barrera says that at Rockstar games, "we usually don't do demo".

JANIGN physics preview
Grand Theft Auto IV - General News | @ 06:17 PM CST | By Neil
The Australian branch of gaming website IGN has a new preview of Grand Theft Auto IV today which focuses exclusively on the physics system in the game. Rockstar has licensed a piece of middleware called Euphoria by British software company NaturalMotion.
The article makes specific mention that the physics system will be noticeable in both character and vehicle control. Characters will now stand appropriately depending on the terrain with a stance on a hill seeing knees bent realistically.
The bodies of characters will also be dynamic inside of vehicles and if hit hard enough then a person can be ejected from a vehicle through the windshield. Most importantly though, this can also happen to the player meaning that intense head-on collisions will see Niko flying out of the vehicle and potentially then becoming an easier target for chasing enemies.
