I'd Rather Be Surfing

GTA: San Andreas - General News | @ 10:19 PM MDT | By rappo

No, that's the title of the stunt video, silly. An awesome stunt video, at that, made by edgenetwork's very own How3tt and his friend Random Hero. This video features the best collection of car stunts that I have ever seen. Although there are many motorbike flips and grinds added in the mix, the real unique part about this video has got to be the amount of stunts performed in cars. Also, the excellent effects, editing, and music syncronization bring the stunts together in a wonderful masterpiece that is definitely worth a watch.

Fiscal 2005 Third Quarter Conference Call (updated)

GTAGaming.com - Rockstar/Take2 News | @ 01:57 PM MDT | By Kodo

Wednesday, September 7, 2005 - 4:30 PM ET

Starting in about a half hour from the time of this post, Take2 will be having a live broadcast of their fiscal 2005 third quarter conference call. You can listen in at this link after just filling in your name and email (and you'll need RealPlayer or Windows Media Player). The financial results for the third quarter ending July 31, 2005 will be discussed and while that may not be at all that interesting to you, there is a possibility that we should hear news pertaining to Liberty City Stories. Specifically speaking, perhaps an official release date. And following this broadcast the official LCS site should be updated in the next few days using gathered logic.

If you are going to miss the conference call or just plain don't want to bother sitting through it, check back here later and I'll update the post with any important information that comes out of it.

[ Update ]

Okay so after listening to the hour-long conference call, I am disappointed to announce that no LCS release date was given. However, a few things were said on the topic of Grand Theft Auto.

- The "Hot Coffee" recall cost Take 2 $28.8 million.
- Starting next week, GTA:SA is being released with an M rating again on the PC and Xbox, with a PS2 re-release coming later.
- Rockstar will have 2 more games for PSP in 2006 (unknown titles).
- Liberty City Stories is on schedule and is guaranteed to ship this quarter (on or before Oct. 31, 2005).
- Take2 said they felt confident about LCS and its options in the PSP market, and they would like to expand on the PSP in 2006. However, they did not make a statement on any other GTA titles for PSP.
Take-Two's next fiscal year will see "extensions of the Grand Theft Auto franchise" on unidentified platforms, according to its earnings report. But when asked by analysts if this meant a new console GTA was coming next year, Chief Financial Officer Karl Winters demurred, saying only "We haven't announced that yet...[we have] no announcement beyond PSP Grand Theft Auto."

You can view that quote and a full summary of the entire conference that deals with non-GTA titles from Gamespot. Full results of the conference are on Take 2's website.

Australia OPS2M

GTA: LCS - General News | @ 02:27 PM MDT | By Kodo
James Burt has provided Neil from GTAPSP.com some new details on Liberty City Stories. The information comes from the October issue of the Australian Official PlayStation 2 Magazine. There are no new screenshots in the preview, but there is an interesting detail that conflicts with other sources and is sure to spawn all sorts of rumors!
  • A brand new character will appear in the game. Vincenzo Cilli is an ill tempered, high ranking mob boss working for the Leone family and he'll be giving you missions at the start of the game.
  • The Porter Tunnel (which connected all three islands in GTAIII) is not in this game. Part of the plot involves striking ferry workers, angry that plans to build the tunnel may put them out of a job.
  • Two further radio stations are confirmed: Chatterbox FM and a new station called "The Liberty Jam". (A few weeks ago, another magazine also confirmed Head Radio, Lips 106 and Double Cleff FM for the game.)
  • The magazine is defiant that the game map will be expanded in some way. They say that "a mystery land mass" can be seen from Portland Island, although this detail has not been covered by any other magazine, even those which received the same demonstration from Rockstar.

Official LCS Site Updated

GTA: LCS - Rockstar/Take2 News | @ 06:28 PM MDT | By rappo
The official site has been updated! Visit the official Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories website to check out all of the latest information, screenshots, and even a video! Rockstar have also simulated an email inbox on the website with 11 "emails" that contain a lot of information about the game. If you are interested in the game, I suggest you take a look.

Now that the official site has been updated, you'll see some more updates on this site as well. We'll hopefully be organizing the information that you can see on the site into easy-to-read pages. So, be expecting a lot of updates soon. But, until then - CHECK OUT THE SITE!

The game is set to be released on October 25, 2005.

UPDATE: The twenty digital screenshots that were previously unseen have now been added to our gallery. Also be sure to check out our updated Characters page and new Gangs page.
