FEBGrand Theft Auto Takes Flak for 'Snowball Rage'

WCCO TV of Minneapolis recenty reported on an interesting story involving Grand Theft Auto. In January, 18-year-old Steven Arnold was charged with second-degree assault and criminal vehicular injury. Arnold allegedly drove his car into three High School students after they threw snowballs at his car, hitting one tire.
In an interesting twist, many are now suggesting that Arnold's actions were a direct result of his playing of the Grand Theft Auto series of video games. One of Steven Arnold's friends has informed reporters that they would regularly play games such as Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
"The two of them for a lot of hours would play Grand Theft Auto, a game were you run over people on the sidewalk. These games particularly are causing kids to do things they wouldn’t otherwise do."

While there is no evidence to suggest that Grand Theft Auto was in any way involved in this case, it seems unlikely that it could be used as a plausible 'excuse' for this behavior in court. We'll bring updates on this case as they are available.

FEBSan Andreas Nominated for Game Developers Choice Awards

The International Game Developers Association (IGDA) has today announced the nominees for its 5th annual Game Developers Choice Awards, with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas reckognised in 4 categories. Best Game, Best Audio, Best Game Design and Best Writing are all categories for which San Andreas was nominated, alongside other instant hits such as Half-Life 2 and Halo 2.
These awards differ in that it is developers rating other studios' work, and each award is greatly honoured for this reason.

nominations process. The high prestige of these honors comes from the fact that fellow developers recognize each other's best work."

The winners of the awards will be announced on March 9th at a special ceremony during the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

FEBGTA Designer Announces New Game

The father of the GTA series, David Jones has put out a press statement announcing a new game he will be releasing in association with MU Online.

All Points Bulletin (APB) is a MMORPG that allows players from all over the world to
join gangs in cities all over the digital realm.

"APB is a turf war involving two main factions, the Squads, whose goal is to uphold
the law, and the Gangs, who seek to break the law at all costs. Players will be able
to choose their side, in a classic good guy versus bad guy scenario. The Gangs are
all about graffiti, attitude, custom cars and earning cash any way they can. The
Squads stand for honor, teamwork, firepower and destroying the Gangs. APB will
provide the player with the ultimate customization options from their weapons,
vehicles and clothes to their attitude, music and environment."





It's set to be released in 2007.
