OCTLooking to the Future. GTAGaming.com - General News | @ 11:21 PM CST | By Shawn
It's regrettable that yesterday's staff disputes made it's way into a public flamefest, spreading from the website here to the forums. It is final, however, that Switch Designs has parted ways with the team here at GTAGaming. While his work will be missed here, it will continue to be available whereever Switch decides to go, and tomorrow is another day.
The long awaited revamp of GTAGaming.com is nearly upon us and we think you will enjoy the changes. While the site will continue to function mostly as is, it will be split up into various "zones" as if they were subsites of their own. We do not believe in the creation of a additional sites to cater for every GTA game but recognize the need for better seperation in content. This is our solution :) The zones will be "San Andreas", "Vice City", "GTA3", and "GTA Classics". Where to place content for "GTA Advance" has not yet been decided. Our avid forum users will notice the greatest change. When this update goes live we will no longer be using EdgeForums. Before the question gets asked - all your profiles will continue to exist as will threads/posts, they are being imported. This change is to further keep all of GTAGaming ON GTAGaming. It may also encourage our newer users to post :) Lastly, this site is about Grand Theft Auto. We did not create this site to compete, to be the best, this site exists because we are fans of the game. You also come to this site because you are fans of the game. Unfortunately there are sometimes "political issues" with websites that grow large. Those issues should never be forced onto the users unlike what happened yesterday. But nevertheless, we look to the future as should you - with San Andreas literally around the corner, the most important change you'll notice here at GTAGaming is more and MORE San Andreas content! :) The team and I thank you for your continued support of GTAGaming. What are we without the fans afterall? :) Edit: I have removed Switch's leaving post as the comments were turning into yet another flamefest.

OCTHope for Australians. GTAGaming.com - General News | @ 12:46 AM CST | By Shawn
This week just had to be a slow news week didn't it :)
In light of that I'm posting up what is a glimmer of hope for Australians who have been forced to import games that the Australian government has either banned or censored in some way. While it is too late for San Andreas, it is possible in the future that an R rating will finally be introduced for video games (currently the highest rating is MA15, which is why games are banned/censored instead of given the R rating). If you're interested, click here for the article at theage.com.au. Thanks LochNessMonster!

OCTAU Release Date. GTAGaming.com - General News | @ 01:16 AM CST | By Shawn
Earlier I speculated how unlikely it would be that GTA: San Andreas would arrive in Australia on the proposed date of 29th October, based on what happened in previous years. In various places the dates 11th and 12th of November are popping up and today xeroer contacted Take Two - getting a confirmation that the release date is the 12th of November. Hopefully this will be a solid date without a repeat of Vice City's continually pushed back release.
Source: xeroer Edit: After receiving enough feedback about the NZ information previously here I've decided to remove it. No need to have people worried about something that is likely nothing more than a rumor. Anyone not from Australia must be tired of my AU news :)

OCTGerman Man!ac Magazine GTAGaming.com - General News | @ 01:33 AM CST | By Shawn We're a bit behind on reporting this but after two news posts about Australia it's time to focus on another country's media :)The German magazine, Man!ac, has an article containing some new info about San Andreas in it's November issue. The key items are as follows: • When in gang wars, you will be able to give the gang members that respect you tactical advice (such as in a war simulation game). • Playing basketball will be a side-game such as ambulance missions or gambling in casinos. • As in the previous GTAs, the standard police force (LSPD) will give up after 4 wanted stars, leaving you to defend yourself from tougher forces at 5 & 6 stars. • Shop owners will draw weapons and defend themselves if they feel threatened. OCTLas Venturas Map from German site. GTAGaming.com - General News | @ 02:06 AM CST | By Shawn
The news is spreading everywhere about what was thought to be the valid Las Venturas map which appeared by accident on the german San Andreas site. Rockstar has since confirmed it was nothing more than a placeholder image used in error. Many fansites have put together maps based on this anyway. GTASanAndreas.net appeared to have contacted Rockstar about it and were told it was not accurate.
I've posted this news item as we are continually getting news submissions about it :) Related: GTASanAndreas.net.

OCTYoung Maylay - First Audio GTA: San Andreas - General News | @ 03:15 PM CST | By Neil
The first audio clip of Young Maylay (who we revealed to be the voice of Carl Johnson in San Andreas a number of days back) has been found online by GTANet. Their internet sleuthing finally came to a close when they uncovered a clip of a rap "duet" between Young Maylay and another of his peers at Audiostreet.net, a huge music database aimed at up-and-coming artists. In the clip, Maylay starts his rap at around 1:18.

OCTGTA: San Andreas rated for European Countries. GTA: San Andreas - General News | @ 01:20 PM CST | By Neil ![]() In the past few days, both the Pan European Game Information Organisation (PEGI) and the British Board of Film Classification have given a rating to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The game was certified as "18" in the UK, with 'no cuts made'. Gamers in the rest of Europe will see the PEGI 18+ logo on the game. The European version is looking very attractive to those unfortunate enough to be looking forward to the game from Australia, where Government rules have meant the game will be censored and face a delay until November 12th. Thanks Xeroer!. The European version will be available on October 29th. Source: British Board of Film Classification

OCTGame Informer: November 2004 GTA: San Andreas - General News | @ 04:11 PM CST | By Neil Game Informer's November Issue (#139) has been received by the select few who subscribe. Inside are some startling new details on San Andreas, and specifically the way the gang territories and turf work.Basically, the areas where gangs are prevailent are indicated by their respective colour shading on the map. Entering the area of another gang will not immediately start a war, it will require a few shots fired for the map to flash red and the fighting to begin. Members of the opposing gang will then appear in "waves" (think Space Invaders), and if you successfully overcome all of the gang members, the area will be shaded to the OGF green on the map. However, you'll have to defend your turf in the same way, facing waves of enemies, at what should be expected as random intervals. If you've been wondering how you recruit and control the other members of your gang, the wait is over. Finally, it was revealed that approaching a pedestrian who is attired in the green Orange Grove Families clothes and then targetting them with the R1 button will begin the process. The player then must choose to press either up or down on the D-Pad, and if you receive a gang symbol from your recruitee, they'll join your posse. Controlling those following you is simple, just target them with R1, and you can choose to have them defend you, attack opponents or follow you with the D-Pad. It really is that simple. Thanks to geep88 for providing us with a copy of the magazine.
