AU Release

GTAGaming.com - General News | @ 11:49 PM MDT | By Shawn
We've received some feedback about the AU Release date being "wrong" (despite it's source) and as an Australian myself I'm also having trouble believing it has any chance of arriving here then. Those of you who waited for Vice City to arrive here will know what I mean. That date just kept getting pushed back further and further...

However I'm making this post to introduce something to the Australians out there who didn't know about it. In 2002, Vice City arrived significantly earlier in New Zealand than it did in Australia, it also remained 'Uncut' unlike the AU version. More importantly, the NZ copy of the game is playable on AU consoles without a modchip.
Naturally that was the version I bought instead of waiting another entire month for the AU version. With all this said, I've assumed the same will happen with San Andreas and have preordered my copy from GPStore.co.nz. Maybe things will be a little more organized this time, but even then I can bet the AU version will have something removed - which I believe to be the reason Vice City's release was delayed here.

* Update: xeroer has written up a forum thread going into great detail about GTA & Australia, it's ratings and release dates. Check it out.

Blacklight Jet

GTAGaming.com - General News | @ 06:39 PM MDT | By Switch Designs
This mod will change your Skimmer Seaplane into a SUKHOI SU 25 Frogfoot Jet.
I didn't like the original textures so I changed them. When I did they turned out looking like something that would look neat under a blacklight.

This jet is alot of fun to fly, it has a edited collision file, included jet sounds/handling pack (created by makis) which makes the skimmer sound like a real jet, take off from the ground, fly as high as you want, perform flips, and you can now do barrel rolls which makes it great for aerobatics. Also included is the bombing mod (created by wombat) which is a edited main.scm file that allows you to shoot "missiles" and drop bombs from the skimmer. It creates a teargas weapon pickup/marker near the lawers office which when you are near will spawn a skimmer next to it that is indestructable. It also Parks a skimmer in the empty hangar on the North-East side of Escobar International Airport.

Download it here

I would also like to add that this jet model is created by De Espona and is converted into a LOCKED DFF file and can/should never be reopened again. So use of this model in other applications is impossible/not allowed. If you like this model and would like to use it for other applications then you may purchase it from the De Espona 3d model enciclopedia (www.deespona.com)

Also if you like the whole idea of having a Jet in your Vice City game check out some of the other Jet mods that I have created.

PC Version Date (Rumor)

GTAGaming.com - General News | @ 08:33 PM MDT | By Kodo
The Internet Movie Database is reporting that San Andreas will have a PC version date of May 15, 2005. The IMDB has been known to be a reliable site, but keep some doubt until this information comes directly from a Rockstar press release. Also note that their PS2 version is still listed as October 19th. We send thanks to Jasonlives for this piece of news. This news is a rumor if I haven't stated that enough already.

PHOENIXZERO points out that the 15th is a Sunday, when games do not ship, but the month is incorrect also. Following Take2's financial schedule would place the PC version of San Andreas around a year after the PS2 version, instead of the usual 6 months.

PStwo Confirmed, Nintendo DS Dated, Priced.

GTAGaming.com - General News | @ 07:31 AM MDT | By Neil
Sony today confirmed the PStwo will launch on November 1st, 2004 in North America, Europe and Oceania, at a price of $149/€149/£104.99. The new console is substantially smaller than the original, weighing half, with internal volume reduced by 75%. A network port is also included, making the network adapter obsolete for the new machine. No mention is made of any bundles, but speculation that the GTA: San Andreas release date had been pushed back to allow the console to be marketed alongside it is still rife. The slim machine will be showcased at this week's Tokyo Game Show.

Meanwhile, Nintendo have announced pricing and release dates for their forthcoming handheld, the Nintendo DS. The console is capable of playing all Game Boy Advance cartidges, including Grand Theft Auto: Advance. US gamers can get their hands on one from November 21st, priced $149.99. European fans will have to wait until early 2005 to enjoy the splendour of dual screen gaming on the move. Perhaps it's worth waiting a few weeks to play GTA: Advance on this beauty instead of forking out for a GBA: SP?

Nintendo also released new imagery of the handheld, which is to include a built in version of PictoChat:

Top Down GTA - General News | @ 01:43 PM MDT | By Neil
UK gaming site MSN Gamesradar have posted their own short preview of GTA: Advance. Included are four, brand new, never before seen screenshots from the game's story section. The preview itself has no new information, other than confusing everyone with the release date noted as October 22 for Europe.

Check out the screenshots in our gallery and look out for our own GTA: Advance section on the site later this week!

For The Playstation

GTAGaming.com - General News | @ 08:35 PM MDT | By Zidane
Tom Gray informs us, there's some new info about the new, more compact version of the Playstation 2, the 'PSTwo' over at Gamespot, including some more pictures and the box. It's model is SCPH-70000, compared to the latest 'original' style PS2, SCPH-50010. It's pretty interesting. Check it out!

Also yesterday, SONY confirmed the use of Blu-Ray for the PS3, 'a format six times larger than a DVD-ROM'... which holds about 54GB of game data... yeah. Pretty crazy stuff. You can find out more about this at Game Informer's site.

Star Wars Landspeeder Mod Pack

GTAGaming.com - General News | @ 11:49 PM MDT | By Switch Designs™
Originally this Landspeeder model/mod was sent to me by Executor 32 to edit and fix so that it would work properly in Vice City. After fixing a few major problems I was able to make it run smoothly in the game. As an added bonus for asking me to help out I decided to create an RC version for Executor 32 and for everyone else who downloads it.

So download this mod now....

It will change your BF Injector and your RC Bandit into Star Wars Landspeeders.

Download it here.

I just found out that this model was originally made for X-Wing Alliance by Flavid diverdaver@hotmail.com...
