2004 Desert Hillclimb
GTA: Vice City - Modifications | @ 08:15 PM CST | By rappo
This is a release specifically intended for _Mr_K's_ fabulous Arcitc Truck for GTA Vice City. For those of you fortunate enough to have already made the acquaintance, you know that it needs somewhere to play that fits its abilities. Maybe, a Hillclimb? Ya. So here it is. Version 1.0. Further enhancements are very likely, and also very possibly additional phases. ***NOTE - This thing is STEEP! It may not even be do-able, let alone FUN, without the Arctic Truck.
[Manual Install] | [VCM Install]
_Mr_K_'s Arcitc Truck Mod:
Here's a four wheel drive, over powered, all terrain vehicle. It's actually a pretty interesting car. It replaces the Sandking, and that is a perfect match. The wheels and the dirty textures make this car complete.
[Manual Install] | [VCM Install]
Edit by Neil: After almost an hour of coding, both mods are now available in VCM format. If you're interested in what it looks like from the top, have a look here. And those who'd like to see the code it takes to get a mod like Desert Hillclimb into VCM format, look here.

2004 A Contest You Won't Want To Miss
GTAGaming.com - General News | @ 09:02 PM CST | By rappo
Hey all you PS2 owners!
Cyrix (an active member over at our forums) has informed me that he is hosting a contest in which the prize is a free copy of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for the PS2! He also said he is willing to ship worldwide, so everyone can join in. Check out his post:
OK, i've been comtemplating this for several weeks now and i have come to a conclusion. I will hold a contest to win a copy of GTA San Andreas for the PS2 system (sorry PC and Xbox guys). The reason I chose the PS2 is simply because who knows when it will be released on the latter two?
This is how it will go. I will post video game trivia questions in this thread on a fairly regular basis. I will then set up an email account specifically for this contest. The first email i receive with the correct answer gets a point. The person with the most points on the day of GTA's release will win. I will personally buy a copy of the game and then have it mailed to you certified mail with a handwritten congrats. Aside from this great prize the winner will be able to gloat about how much they know about our beloved industy's past, present, and future.
I have decided to start the contest This coming Monday, as in May 10th. This is for GTA forum members only. If for some reason I feel that a person is ineligible to participate, then it is so. And I don't want to hear any complaining about it. Also if anyone complains incessently about the answers to the questions, or who got it right first they will be withdrawn by me from the competition no questions asked, no return.
So guys, how does this sound?? Better buff up on your video game trivia.
GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN :D
Also, I will post a E-Mail address by wednesday for all those wishing to participate. For obvious reasons i will have to keep the size of the playing field down to no more than 50 people. So the first 50 replys i recieve will be eligible to play.
To make sure you are eligible, send an e-mail to email@example.com and reserve your spot in the contest today!
For more information on the contest, and to comment about it, visit our GTA Forums. Make sure you are registered or logged on first.
At 50 bucks a pop for each copy of San Andreas, who wouldn't want to miss this opportunity?

GTAGaming.com - General News | @ 04:43 PM CST | By Switch Designs
Well today I too had been infected by the W32 Sasser Worm. I had to use a Ip masking program called Primedius Web Tunnel just to be able to visit any edgenetwork site as well as alot of other sites.
However to remove the virus you must download and run the FxSasser.exe.
Good luck to anyone who gets this nasty worm and hope you all have a good day.

2004 Frontline Scotland: Vice City
GTAGaming.com - General News | @ 10:46 AM CST | By Neil
Frontline Scotland: Vice City aired on BBC ONE Scotland last night, and I must say, I'm impressed. The programme presented a balanced analysis of the effects of Vice City, and video games in general, on people's behaviour. While some of the information contained in the show wasn't very recent, it presented it in the fairest way possible, featuring interviews with those opposed to the game and those who claim there is no link between violent video games and violent behaviour.
One person opposed to the game is Jack Thomson, a Miami Attorney representing the victims of shootings in which a man was killed and a woman was injured in Tennessee in 2003. The shootings were allegedly caused by the perpetrators playing Rockstar North's first 3D title in the series, Grand Theft Auto III. Mr Thomson is currently engaged in multiple lawsuits against many of those involved in developing and distributing the game, including Rockstar North/Games.
However, Rockstar Games declined to be interviewed for the programme, and instead, the Entertainment Software Association dismissed any possible link between violent video games and violent behavior.
"The notion that they don't know right from wrong, that they don't know that picking up a weapon and shooting people is morally wrong and that somehow 'a video game made me do it' is just ridiculous."
- Doug Lowenstein, President, ESA
In my opinion the problem does not lie with the video games industry, but with the mass availability of firearms in the United States of America, as Walmart.com will testify. It is clear that such incidents are few and far between, and the handful that have taken place appear to be concentrated in the USA. Such incidents are highly unlikely in other developed countries like the United Kingdom, where much stricter licencing laws are in place. Furthermore, the notion that a person could play a game, and then feel so engrossed in it that they want to carry out a similar act themself is absurd. The view from human eyes is far different to that which is created by a modern games console, no matter how close to reality game developers would like you to believe their latest title is. Also, the fact that Mr Thomson is pursuing Rockstar for a figure in the region of £60million shows that money is an important factor in his lawsuits, yet no figure can be placed on a lost relative. It is purely a product of the American "sue" culture which appears to be sweeping the rest of the world. His pursual of WalMart for selling the game is completely unrealistic, as they also carry weapons which allow people to carry out such violent acts. These types of lawsuit have been around for a long time, often aimed at the movie industry instead. If video games had this effect on one person, why are such incidents isolated in nature?
A RealPlayer version of the programme is now available on the BBCi site. If you'd like to hear Attorney Barry Silver's song about Vice City's violent nature, get it from edgefiles, it's a must-listen! (600k .MP3)
2004 Attack Hummer Version 2
GTAGaming.com - General News | @ 09:01 PM CST | By Switch Designs
This mod will change your Rhino Tank into an awesome new Attack Hummer that has a working turret that fires rockets. Special Thanks to GTAGaming forum member Tommy for the great mod Idea.
This is the second version of this mod. The only change is the added collision file that I left out of the original version by mistake.
Thanks alot to user: Know Buddy for bringing this to my attention in the comments for the mod.
