Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

I quite like the combat system in this game. But holy shit, runs fast maxed out but also heats everything like a oven.

I'm playing Amalur as well. It's okay, but the combat seems button-mashy. It reminds me of playing Streets of Rage. It had been talked up as though it were the second coming of sliced bread. The "exploration" (it's in quotes for a reason) aspect seems lacking as well due to the fact that it's essentially killing monsters in a bunch of branching corridors that ultimately lead the same way. I also dislike the way skills were implemented. Some skills seem useless no matter how many points you dump into them. (I'm looking at you, lockpicking and stealth.) It's hard for me to take the plot seriously, though. If you have technicolor Saturday-Morning-looking villians, they need some added sense menace. Also, the COLD. DEAD. EYES.

My impressions are not all bad, though. Though the art style is cartoony, it is full of pretty flourish, and the game fixes some of the problems I had with Skyrim, namely the re-spec option. Maybe it'll grow on me. It had better, or it'll be gathering dust once some Skyrim DLC pops up.

I primarily started playing the game because I saw the combat as a sort of spectacle fighting system. It's button mashy because you can perform different attacks based solely on the amount of time between clicks. And some a quick glimpse of the moves menu, pretty much every melee weapon time has at least 5+ moves attached to it. Some are also unlocked via the abilities menu.

I pretty much agree with you on everything else. This might be the only RPG game where I skipped 40% of all the dialog. I read it to get the basic jist and then I skip the rest of the chit chat. No pulling power on the story whatsoever.

Also, the game is way, way to easy. I might have to try a higher difficulty, but I don't think I would play through it again considering how many damn side quests there are.

A coworker gave me Fable 3 for free so I've played the last few nights.
It's a decent game. I just don't like the hand holding mechanic. It's annoying especially since they make you use it for any escort quests they give you. I should not be holding another grown man's hand, it's retarded.

I've heard they fixed the co-op a bit too so just need to get one of my friends who's already played to try it out with me.

Finished AC: Revelations

I feel like Ezio had to purpose like at all. What was the point of him finding the keys and finding dead Altair but in the end just leaving the Apple there. Then he talks to Desmond for a few seconds but gets interrupted by Jupiter. Sure he was the messenger but they kinda established that in Brotherhood. Or even AC2. What the fuck? Also fuck you, Sun.

And dont give me that "closure to the story of Ezio and Altair" cause Ezio just finished his quest and that's it. No getting old with Sofia kind of ending cutscene. LOL UBISOFT NO WATCH THIS ANIMATED MOVIE WE MADE TO WATCH THE ENDING WHAT WHAT. Altair stuff was pretty cool.

But before I came to the conclusion that the Ezio story was worthless

Game was pretty cool. Story wasnt as strong as in Brotherhood or AC2 but I'm still pretty integrated in the overall story. Can't wait for AC3 this year.

I agree with you on some aspects. We did need closure on both characters. AC3 will be great that is for sure. I liked the animated movie. Very well done.

Played more Fable 3.
The game is actually pretty fucking buggy and its annoying me. The framerate keeps dropping and then last night I got stuck after digging for treasure and couldn't move at all.

Also I hate that everytime you go to the sanctuary Jasper tries to get you to buy DLC shit.

Kingdoms of Amalur.

Got to lvl 15. Started out as a Rogue using daggers and a bow. Decided around lvl 13 that I hate bows, so I re-specced twice and finally decided on my 3rd unbinding to go full melee.

I spent 200k gold to get new gear and weapon because the previous gear all had a Finesse requirement. Now I'm a walking tank, 550 defense wielding a thunder hammer and thunder sword. The more enemies I kill, the stronger I become. The combat is way, way more fun and versatile.

And I decided to install a DLC Armour pack. Selling all the gear I actually don't want got me 300k.

Mass Effect 2, by far one of my favorite games this gen. I started as a femshep when I bought the game last summer as a sentinel, and now I'm playing through with shepard as a vanguard. so badass
