Halo 2

For the Xbox

You've probably read a lot of reviews for this, but I'll try to be as unbiast as possible.

When I first picked this game up I was very excited to play it. This is the follow up to Halo, which is one of the greatest first person shooters ever. The game exceeds the first in most, if not every way. There are changes to the gameplay itself. The most noticable feature is the fact that there is no health meter. This takes away the constant worrying about low health and searching around for medpacks. It also takes away any disadvantage you might have against someone you're in a firefight with. Another important feature is the ability to hold a combination of any two one-handed weapons. This gives a great sense of variety to the shooting aspect of the game, and you're always picking up a new second weapon rather than just blasting away with one.

The missions and level design have been greatly improved. In the first game, when you went through the levels again there was a sense of "Been there, done that." That feeling is not present on Halo 2, and the levels will always be a great challenge on the higher difficulties no matter how much you think you have mastered it.

The multiplayer is where the game really exceeds. If you don't have Xbox Live, you're really missing out. Split screen is fun to a limit. There is nothing like playing a 16-player capture the flag match over Live. The new gametypes and levels are brilliantly made.

The graphics and sound in this game are awesome. The graphics live up to the expected high standards. The landscapes are beautiful. The soundtrack is, as was the case with the first game, brilliant. There are many modern rock tunes, along with the classical atmospheric music that really sets it apart from other game sountracks.

This game does, however, lack a few things. First of all, you do not have the ability to play cooperative over Xbox Live. This mode is one of the greatest aspects of the game, but it could be fixed with a future update. The story is the main drawback. While the story is not exactly "bad", the game ends abruptly and unexpectedly, but does however give room for new expectations.

This is one of the greatest games I have ever owned or played. It lived up to the hype in my opinion.

9.5/10

Since it was so over hyped IMO I'd have to just give it a 9.0

I'd give it a 6 out of 10. It's okay, but I don't see why so many ppl are obsessed with it.

As for the game it was more of a expansion pack then a new game, I mean come on the only new thing was online and dual guns abillity, and a couple of weapons and that is about it.

I played the multiplayer for a little while and I have to say it was nowhere near as fun as playing CSS or HL2DM. I had a better time playing Halo PC online that I did playing Halo 2 over live.

Uhh... I hope you're joking.

If you mean Half-Life 2 being on Xbox, yes it will be, and no you will not be able to play Garry's Mod or Counter-Strike Source. That's the benafit of the PC version.

It is on Xbox.. >_>

If you mean PS2, that won't happen. I'll quote a certain post Neil made a little while back.

This is ridiculous, I have to sort this mess out.

The reason Halo will never be released for Playstation 2 is simple - it's published by Microsoft and developed by one of their internal studios, Bungie. Why on earth would they give their greatest asset to the 'competition'?

Grand Theft Auto on the other hand, is developed by Rockstar North, a wholly owned subsidary of Take 2 Games, a company who have absolutely nothing at all to do with Sony. They may have agreements which state that the game can only appear on Playstation 2 for a cerain period, but that's all. Basically, Sony pay Take 2 to keep the game exclusive to PS2 for a certain amount of time. After the contract ends, the game can appear on other platforms. These platforms are decided entirely by Take 2. They see it as profitable to develop an Xbox and PC version, but not a Gamecube version. That's why it's not being released on GC. Why should they spend money converting it if few people would buy it?

As someone who owns all three of these consoles, I can safely say that I have no preference. All of them stand out as excellent pieces of hardware, even if I'm still a PC 'fanboy' at heart. I play far more games on my PC than any of my consoles, mainly because I enjoy the communicative features included in most of them.

It doesn't matter what format the game is on, since you're going to play it anyway. If you can buy it, why the hell does it matter if some other people who own different hardware can? Surely that's a good thing, as it means more money for the developer, publisher, distributor etc, and increases the likelihood of the series continuing.

Please, stop this ruthless fanboyism, which is immature (why am I not surprised to see it on this forum?!) and downright stupid.

It's a sequel. While that doesn't make it an expansion pack it doesn't make it a completely new game either. Playing it over Live is really the best part of the game, especially when you play with your friends as opposed to all random people you don't know.

@Piggus: I'm actually not a huge fan of Counter Strike. I'm not saying it's bad becuase clearly it isn't. I didn't really like Halo PC either. I guess I'm just more of a console person.

@Lynk: There's a lot more than dual guns. You have to own it to really get into it.

@Locust: You mean PS2 not Xbox, right? That'll never happen because the game is made by a Microsoft owned company: Bungie.

I have the game, and I pre-ordered it especilally and all I got was something I would consider a expansion pack.

If that's the way you feel then that's perfectly fine, but you can't say there's nothing but online play and dual guns.

I'd give 1 a 10/10. 2 was overhyped.

Why is it when everyone else overhypes it, people hate it? It's not like Bungie told us it was going to have features it wasn't.

I didn't even care, I just purchased the Collector's Edition for the heck of it and I liked it.
