But you CAN play the game. Even without an install. Multiplayer is extra content, not the game itself.

There's still plenty of games on multiple disks. LA Noire, Max Payne 3, Halo 4, Assassin's Creed III, Witcher 2, Medal of Honor, Resident Evil 6, etc. All of those are 2012 titles no less, besides LA Noire. But then look at Skyrim...

Right, so Halo 4 is a online shooter and does not feature a single player campaign that the entire world throws awards at?

Still doesn't answer my question: Can you play Halo 4's single player campaign without installing to hard drive? If yes it's not a mandatory install to play the product.

But if you need to actually install the multiplayer component of the game to play the singleplayer aspect of it, then it's a mandatory install regardless if the user bought the game only to play multiplayer or not. Mandatory is mandatory after all.

You buy Halo 4 and it asks you to install if you want to play MP. That's fine, it gives you a choice. Mandatory is asking you to install the MP segment regardless if you want to or not, you NEED it installed to even run Halo 4.

Okay sure, it's only for multiplayer that you need to install content. But still.. I see that as a part of the game, not extra content. Since when is multiplayer extra content?

Especially with shooters like Halo multiplayer is just as much a part of the game as Single Player.

To be fair, AC3's second disc is for multiplayer.

My guess for multiple discs would be if after you get to a certain mission you have to put in another disc to start the next half of the missions, maybe a 3rd disc for multiplayer.

Yeah but as Ash mentioned, multiplayer will probably take place in the same map as single player and will probably just be a few scripts. Which can be very small (would be a waste of an extra disc).

Splitting up the missions over the discs like L.A. Noire did will help bring down the size but that still leaves you with that enormous world which has to be placed on 1 disc.

Kind of a useless discussion come to think of it , why don't we just wait and see. It wouldn't be a dealbreaker for me atleast, I'll probably still end up buying the 360 version.

I fully agree, just nervous on what my 4gb 360 will be missing out on compared to everybody else.

That article says "The game will require an 8GB install" but then further down it says "The full install size has not been revealed".
