Sleeping Dogs

I'm a fan of the True Crime series even though the games were extremely glitchy and buggy, especially the 2nd game, True Crime NYC.

I know the game was bought and renamed "Sleeping Dogs" by Square Enix but it started as a True Crime game and doesn't seem that different from the original Activision game.

Anyway, i always loved their focus on hand to hand combat, something R* never cared about with GTA.

Also like the fact the main character is a cop, something that's not very popular among open world games.

Sleeping Dogs is just a few weeks away from release, anyone getting this game?

I remember that, True Crime NYC was awful, it was basicly a clunky GTA rip off in my opinion.

Saints Row 1 and 2 were as well, but saints row 3 is a huge improvement

Clunky as it was, True Crime LA and NYC gave me many good hours of enjoyment. Especially the multiplayer.

So fuck yeah, I will be getting this

I don't remember the True Crime series having a multiplayer mode, i've always played Streets of LA and NYC on the PS2, don't know about the PC versions tbh.

Anyway, as long as they bring back the police dispatch side missions, i'll be one happy camper. The majority of my playtime with True Crime was spent doing those missions.

The early reviews of this have been really good. I might check it out later.

Yeah the PC version of LA had multiplayer. I agree with the dispatch missions, it was fun to do and had variety.

Rape in progress and you actually saw the perp trying to do his business, nothing a kick in the face couldn't handle.

It wasn't even a True Crime game to begin with. At first it was known at "Black Lotus" and only later renamed to True Crime etc. Then Activision was like naw son.

Tried to watch that earlier but YouTube buffering horseshit.

Here's a shorter review from friend of TB and fellow TGS's member, Jesse Cox.

I personally had no idea this game even existed until about a week ago. Then suddenly it's out. Haven't played it but it looks very mediocre. Wouldn't pay the full AAA price for a game like this. But i'd gladly try it this winter when it's inevitably on sale for $9 off Steam.

Holy shit i needed something to get me back into gaming. Goddamn this is a fun game. The driving physics are meh and the shooting is... alright. The hand to hand... man i usually hate hand to hand in games but this one is just divine.

I've been lost in this game for days now, just that good.

I saw the review TB made , although fun as always the game didn't seem that big of a deal to me. I liked true crime los angeles but everything after that was just shit.

I guess I'll try it out , but I'll save my money for Hitman (and possibly AC3)

@Algonquin did you actually pay full-price for this? and is it worth it?

If you've seen TB's video and didn't get an urge to rush out and get it; I wouldn't even bother. Save your money for a game that you know you'll enjoy. Especially one at full price. Sleeping Dogs will be 50% off come Steam's Winter Sale. It can wait. Trust me.

Genuinely cannot comprehend the amount of buzz this game is generating, it looks beyond generic.
