I have to say something. The reasons that people are believing GTA V will not be released this year are pretty much the same reasons why you do think it will be released this year. I'm normally not an advocate of calling people out on opinions, but "One thing it means, is Rockstar is still very much on schedule for an October 2012 release."?

What schedule? There is none that you, or I, have seen so I think to claim that the game is on schedule is purely speculation.

Look, I appreciate your opinion and optimism, but surely some of the evidence you have presented (such as the liscence plates revealing the release date) has to be seen as wishful thinking, and while I'm not sure of the release date myself, I can't help but think you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

There has always been a schedule with past GTA releases. First bit of real info(pictures/trailer) in spring, and then nothing much for June, and a little in July and a huge amount in August and September. My opinion is completely based on this. November's trailer would've probably happened this spring if it wasn't for MP3.

Of course anything with GTA V is pure speculation, but what else are you supposed to do when Rockstar acts completely out of character for the first time ever with a GTA release? And the license plate is the smallest bit of "evidence" people have pointed out. Anybody can look at an October license plate in the game's only trailer and say it means nothing, but that seems more like a reach than the person who says it's a clue. If nothing else, it shows Rockstar still has a love affair with that month when it comes to GTA.

And anyways, it's not that I'm optimistic when it comes to the game's release date, and I'll be a little disappointed regardless if I have to wait a bit longer. I just believe in Rockstar's tradition of releasing GTA games in October, and I also believe resume's from current Rockstar North employees, Take-Two's earnings report, or a trailer in which Rockstar felt the need to show us "OCT" on a license plate. Just to put it simply. The day you know what a new GTA looks like, is the day you know it's scheduled to come out the following October. It's just how they've always done it, so it just makes sense to go with that in my opinion.

But you said it right there: totally out of character. I agree with it being out of character, which is why for me it would suggest that the release of this game isn't really follow any real schedule that has been set in the past. And I'm sorry, but I don't find it feasible that a bunch of letters or numbers seen in the trailer, especially a teaser trailer, are going to reveal the release date of a game they're being so tight-lipped about. Even if the game was released this October, I'd still refuse to accept that the above evidence suggested it (unless Rockstar publicly announce it as so).

The only thing that would suggest an October release date, or any release date, is previous title releases, and considering the amount of fluctuation from previous titles "schedules", I don't see October as realistic. I'm more on board with the theory that once real information is brought forward, that about 6 months later would be a realistic target date, and even then I only barely think that makes sense. At the end of the day, I'm reserving all judgement, or trying to guestimate a release date, until Rockstar announces it.

I'm far too pessimistic to hope for a release date this year. I've got my fingers crossed for a march release. That being said i would like to be pleasantly surprised with some news.

Hell GTAV's silence since the trailer has been longer then my last relationship.

@thenotsogoodtrickster, Fair enough, although this is a bit much..."Even if the game was released this October, I'd still refuse to accept that the above evidence suggested it (unless Rockstar publicly announce it as so)". You talk about me, but you're trying too hard in the opposite direction.

Why would Rockstar need to publicly announce that "October 2012" on the resumes means the same thing as "October 2012" in real life? And it's not fair to just call it a bunch of "letters or numbers". In that very short teaser trailer, Rockstar decided to show one date(October). It's easy to spot and the shot is completely unnecessary. It's only there because Rockstar wanted it to be there. Trailers aren't just randomly generated.

GTA IV was announced at E3 2006 via. Tattoo on peter moores arm.
March 29, 2007 - GTA IV reveal trailer
Later down the track - It was given a release date of October 17, 2007 but was delayed to april 29th, 2008.

Originally, GTA IV was set to release the same year as its reveal trailer. 1 year after announcement. So we could really be looking at GTA V to being an October 2012 release, no matter how quiet the news is.

I'm REALLY expecting something big in October anyway, it's the 10th Anniversary of Vice City, AND it's also the 15th Anniversary of the entire GTA Franchise! After the effort they put out for GTA3 last year, they HAVE to do something big for this, I seriously can't see them ignoring GTA (and other Rockstar Games) at that time and only post about Max Payne 3 DLC and Max Payne 3 T-Shirts and Max Payne 3 Multiplayer Events.

Fun Fact, I checked it out, on Rockstars own News Wire, they haven't mentioned any other game at all for over TWO AND A HALF MONTHS now, tonights post about them now having an Instagram account was the first time they mentioned both Red Dead Redemption AND Grand Theft Auto in a passing sentence about tweeting hashtags.

If you had of told me this in October last year I would have called you a nut. Now, I'm not so sure. Do you really think they'll wait an entire year between the announcement trailer and new information? I'm surprised that it's going to be a year between the announcement trailer and the game release itself.

I really disagree that im trying too hard in the opposite direction. Gta v is a game that we barely know anything about, so i find it hard to take faith in something that seems that it could be randomly generated.

I don't know if it's been said but the next issue (August) is the Top 50 games of 2012.

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/a...px?PageIndex=6

If they're releasing it in October, then it'd have to be in the September issue or bust. I mean it's GTA but I don't think they'll have a shorter marketing window than 3 months.

Well, I can see where you're coming from. It's so different from what I've seen from Rockstar in the past, so it makes me want to speculate. I don't know if it's "faith" I have, or if I'm just choosing to pay attention to "information" that gives me the most positive feeling for a October 2012 release.

It's so hard for me not to speculate about this...

This is my thoughts exactly. We can say all we want about how news is slow/nonexistent, but in reality when we get some news, we'll forget about the time when we had none. GTA is the type of franchise that can wait until the last minute to promote itself.

GameInformer's September issue features Army of Two on the cover. However, according to their Facebook, GameInformer AU apparently have a different cover:
Quote:
We are not running the same cover as the US - there is also no digital copy of the magazine. I should point out that we do have the Army of Two world exclusive reveal in this issue, but that is in addition to what I can't - or anyone in the world Casper - announce right now.
The release of this cover at 4pm GMT+10 (which is coincidently midnight in Los Angeles) on the 14th of August coincides with the start of Gamescom and the release of Sleeping Dogs in North America.

Obviously, it seems strange for Game Informer Australia to be announcing this, though it doesn't sound as if this "worldwide reveal" is exclusive to only them. Obviously, it could be anything. Though I can think of only a few titles that could warrant a media embargo and the delay of a magazine.

It's all speculation at this point and I hate to raise hope but this is worth sharing.

It's interesting but I doubt that they're going to do some sort of reveal:

1) Internationally not worldwide simultaneously
2) In print vs. the internet

I'd love to be wrong, don't think so in this case though.

EDIT: Bwahaha it's COD: BO2 multiplayer.

So the cover was just Black Ops II Multiplayer. Disapointing.
