Just installed car mod and handling problems

So I replaced the wtd and the wft files of the turismo with one I found, but when I drive it, the car would flip over when taking corners and would also flip over if I turn from side to side. There were further instructions in the mod to edit the handling.dat, vehicles.ide, and carcols.dat but I ignored it. I only wanted to change the look of the turismo while keeping the same handling of the original one. I'm new to this so does changing the wtd and wft of the vehicles change the performance too?

Also, what is vehicles.ide? What changes does that make?

When opening vehicles.ide it look like some kind of classification file (like which car is a van, that a van has rear doors etc). Replacing the .wft and .wtd file shouldn't change anything in the performance of the car. That´s higly unlikely because they are only model files. When u step into the car, is everything alligned correctly? I mean do you sit where you're suppose to sit etc? and what fles did you replace other than that? if you replaced vehicles.ide I would try replacing it with the orginal again.

I can't possibly imagine a .wft or .wtd file to change the cars performance (at best the cars physics could be wrong when replacing a van with a sportscar or something). Correct me if I'm wrong though

At first, whoever uploaded the mod intended it for the infernus. I changed the name of the files to turismo and replaced my game files using sparkiv. I go in game and the car looks fine and everything, even the doors open vertically and everything seems ok, but when I drive it, it would flip over on turns. lol other than that I didn't change anything.

Or is it because it's for the infernus but I changed it for the turismo that's causing the issue???

Hmm to be honest I haven't got a clue to where to problem lays if you only replaced those files, I would suggest replacing the car it was intended for and see if you still got that problem.

Thanks for your replies. I just gave up on that model and switched to a different one and it doesn't seem to have that problem anymore. But I always see that there's these handling numbers that the author of the mod wants you to change. Are these their interpretation of how the car should handle? Or where are they getting those numbers from?

Yes I think most of them just figure how a car like that should drive (maybe from stats in forza motorsport or some thing like that) I however never change stuff like that , the changes u make have to be put in exactly right or your game will crash.

(YOU HAVE TO HAVE A "FILECHECK FIX" IN ORDER TO PROPERLY MOD GTA 4) Just use xliveless, follow the instructions and editing the handilng lines won't crash the game. simple as that. Some people seem to like to spread untruths about modding this game, it's not as difficult as some make it out to be.

The car is flipping over because you aren't using the handling lines, yes, they do matter. Some car mods will work fine without changing the handling lines, most will NOT!! If you don't use xliveless or another form of "filecheck fix" than you cannot change the handling lines, you can try to change them but they simply will not have an effect, and the results will either be a car that flips over or (if you're lucky) a car that simply handles like a gta 4 original car and not the way the mod author intended it to.

'Like to spread untruths?' I don't know if you're talking about me but I just give my personal opinion based on my experience.. if I make any mistakes correct me but you don't have to put everything in red to make your statement. Just reply normally or don't reply at all.. some people might not like xliveless for the simple fact that it disables games for windows live and therefor it disables multiplayer (yes you can still play online with mods).

Idk man. From personal experience, I've downloaded about 15-20 car mods and only a few of those models had flipping over issues, the rest were fine so I doubt "most" of the mods won't work like you said if I don't change the handlings. I've experimented with the handling data and changing the z plane center of gravity fixes most if not all of these flipping issues. The other mumbo jumbo is just the author's rendition of the cars performance which is meaningless. Never used xliveless but doesn't seem to have any need for it so...

Can anyone also tell me how I can change the rim colors? One of the mods has rims matching the body color, which I'm not the biggest fan of.

And another issue I've ran into is that some of these car mods make it so that when you're a far distance away from the vehicle, the car will still look stock from GTA IV until you get closer. That's when the car changes into the mod you wanted it to.

Help with this!

I've just started installing some mods to my game, and im experiencing the same problems with ALL the cars i DL'ed.
I've installed them with sparkIV, and modded the game with some filelist.bak or something, and everything seemed to work fine. The cars are looking as they should, but every single one tips over in the corners if you drive them faster then like 20mph.
I didnt check all instructions for all cars if they had any handling instructions, but i know i checked atleast 4 out of the 7-8 i DL'd, and they did not say anything about this.

The cars were all downloaded from different modders/contributors.
Is there any way to get all cars working properly at the same time, or would i need to edit everyone seperatly?
It seems like almost every is behaving the same, equaly easy to tip over.
All the non modded standard cars are working as they should.
I have EFLC installed, but im not using that. Havent even started it since i reinstalled the game (fresh install just prior to when i began modding it) and i havent modded anything else on my own, just with things from this site

Read my post below with the red line, if you want to solve your problem. If there were no handling lines included in the read me, then you simply must install the car over the car of the authors choosing, as it was made to only work over that particular car (you may get lucky and find another car that it will work over if you don't mind trial and error). If handling lines are included than you can use a "filecheck fix" http://www.gta4-mods.com/tools/eflc-...a-dumper-f4776 and replace the car of your choosing. You will need an ASI loader to use it.

Not really one for arguing but fine if you want it that way.. I never said texture mods cause the most problems.. I only said that intalling texture mods wrongly usually leads the game to shut down instantly so IF you have a problem with the game shutting down after half an hour (which was the case) then its PROBABLY not a texture mod probem.

It's true I don't know everything.. who does, I don't discourage people from modding .. I just tell them whats what regarding car mods(to the best of my knowledge and experience) I myself have a perfectly running game with all kind of mods and script .

Truth is that there aren't alot of people active on this forum .. I saw how sometimes people have to wait days for a simpel answer. Thats when I decided to help out as much as I can. I might not know everything, and I might make mistakes but at least I'm doing the best I can and trying to help people in a normal respectfull way. instead of screaming at them like a child because they don't know how to do something or (unknowningly) say things that are wrong.

Btw.. really childish that you added my posts as a bad rep just because I say things that you don't agree to

You are not suppose to give someone a bad reputation just because what he says is wrong.. that's why it's a forum isnt it, if someone is wrong there are other people to correct him. But don't exagerate.. judging from what u said about me saying that textures crash your game.. you either didn't really read my replies thoroughly or you didn't understand what I meant. You can atleast point out to the people I replied to what exactly was wrong instead of complaining about it on an other topic.. I must have made some mistakes but I'm not wrong about EVERYTHING (like you make it seem).

And 'scare tactics' hahaha the taxi bug is a fact and MOST people got this bug when installing custom cars.. I've tried alot of ways to get rid of it and never seemed to get it done, thats why I don't believe in fixes and that's what I tell other people so they at least don't get their hopes up. Wether they try it or not I leave it up to them.

I can appreciate that you have such knowledge about modding but that doesn't give you the right to act like you're better then other people. I say what I know and what I think will help people.. if I'm dead wrong just correct me next time instead of referring to 'some people ' that 'like' to spread untruths.

PS.. Just to be clear, the whole texture situation.. He had a problem that causes his game to shut down and didn't know where the problem was.. he named some stuff textures, scripts etc. What I meant to say is that IF a texture would cause the problem (which is indeed very unlikely) it would probably shut down the game instantly and therefor it is very unlikely that the game shuts down after half an hour just because of a texture (unless it crashed when you changed to a specific shirt). I mess around with textures and models too sometimes and that's just what I've come across.. sometimes I didn't pay enough attention replacing a texture and u see that right away because the game shuts down before even loading your safe game or when changing to that shirt.

Instead of bashing on people how bout you actually give some help. I don't give a damn about how u think ur superior to everyone else in modding...ok whatever idc. I just want to know how u change color rims if that's even possible and why cars look stock from a distance. If you were so good with all ur experience and everything, what's the solution to those problems?

Stop going off topic with bashing or at least do it somewhere where I'm not trying to get some help from with this stuff.

You're absolutely right jumpman .. sorry. As far as I know changing rim color is not possible, there are some (standard) cars though where it is possible (like cavalade) you can use simple native trainer for that (or any other cartrainer I guess).

If you really are that set on changing the rim colors it might be possible when adjusting the textures or the 3d model (not familiar with vehicle modding so I can't help u there)

Oh and my last offtopic comment.. It's fine Toker, lets just call it even and forget about it
