I don't know why people wanted this to be like Mafia. LA Noire had some flaws but at least it pushed boundaries and tried to be innovative. There's not too much room for games like this in a market where every company is trying to have a title which appeals to the 13 year old cod crowd.

The problem with L.A.Noire was, well, the writing, I'm amazed that a game that I've put a good few hours in and I still didn't give a crap about anyone in it.

There are more problems, but that for me was a huge one.

I would argue that the writing and overall story was considerably better than Mafia 2. (not Mafia one, hell no, but still). The problem is, that nobody can help it, these games are set in similar time periods so they will always get compared when really they are nothing alike. Diversity in the gaming industry is pretty rare these days.

I actually thought the story of Mafia II was pretty good, UNTIL THE LAST FEW ACTS, the game had a brilliant build up, and the progression to prove yourself was done well, but then, after getting made, the story just got lazy and the last part of the game can be summed up as such:

"Hey Vito, come help with this"
"Ehh, I dunno, sounds bad"
"COME OOOONNNNNN"
"Ah, if you say so"
*things go bad*

"Hey Vito, come help with this"
"Ehh, not this time Joe"
"COME ONNNNNN"
"Eh, ok then, things can't go bad, right?"
*things go bad*

*pointless plot mix up*

"Thanks for taking out The Don by yourself even though we were all stood outside with massive amounts of guns and could have easily helped at any time"
"Ehh, it was nothing"
"Come on, let's go for a ride"
*notices Joe's car turning away*
"Where they going?"
"Joe wasn't apart of the deal..."
*ANGRY FACE*
END

my gameplay style is just the opposite ash, to me the storyline means nothing to me, what drives me into games is all the free roam and exploring aspects, interactive objects, side missions, collectibles, etc

The type of games where I can do anything I want at any pace I want.

Like when Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim comes out I will start exploring in a random direction and get my skills up on my character a bit.

If that's the case Nite, don't get LA Noire. It's very much a linear game in a non-linear world.

No idea why you still thought it would be a free-roam/explore game, there's lots of footage from the console versions.

So yeah, don't get it d00d

I'ma get it when it's cheap. Linear or not, it still looks like an interesting game.

I generally don't like to watch game videos because of spoilers.

Yeah, the only real Free Roam you get is driving in between case events, and even then it feels out of place:

"COME ON PHELPS, WE BETTER GET TO THAT DEAD BODY!"
*you drive around for 40 minutes collecting cars*

"Phew, it's a good thing we got here as soon as we could!"
