Sudden Lag after obtaining new GFX card.

Ohai.

First post here, so beware, may be one of 5000 .

Anyway, I've been experiencing problems with GTA IV ever since I got my newer, more powerful graphics card. I recently upgraded from a nVidia GeForce GT 240 1GB to a GeForce GTX 285 1GB. It ran fine the first time I tried it with full settings, getting about 30 to 40 FPS.

Now all of a sudden, the game takes much longer to load, so long the music stops playing, and the game has frequent stutters, which reduce in frequency the longer I play the game.

I've tried a DeFrag etc etc, but nothing seems to be working. I also have the latest patches.

System Specs:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 @ 2.5GHz (I would O/C, but my motherboard freaks and stubbornly refuses)
Motherboard: ASRock G41C-GS (Intel G41 and ICH7 Chipsets)
RAM: ADATA 4GB DDR3 1333MHz.
HDD: 1 TB WD Caviar Green 7,200RPM. 320GB Maxtor (SeaGate) DiamondMax 21 7,200RPM.
GFX Card: ASUS nVidia GeForce GTX 285 1GB GDDR3

Whats wrong?

Music stops playing in final loading right and game stops? Had similar problem and fixed it by re-installing game.
