Correct me if I'm wrong, but uhhh...

I think some of the names are pronounced incorrectly.

Judging from ingame conversations, I think Niko Bellic arrived in LC from the Balkan/Adriatic coast region. And Niko Bellic and some others have been talking shit about Albanians. So I guess Niko is Croatian, Bosnian or Montenegrian.

I personally know Croatian/Bosnian people, and their names also end with a C...

Now, in GTA IV Bellic is pronounced as Bellik, but I think it's supposed to be pronounced like Bellitsh. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Same goes for Mila Tadic, mentioned in conversations between Roman and Niko.

I know, it's nothing big...but still it's kinda stupid.

You would think there'd be a háček above the C.

Maybe they just pronounced 'bellik' so Americans can pronounce it better this way.

Reminds me of how micheal madsen pronounces Toni Cipriani's name wrong in GTA III.

I thought the same thing, Mr. Pablo. Pre-release I always thought it was going to be pronounced like "Bell-eech"... I'm not sure why it's not like that, maybe we're missing something?

NHLer Joe Sakic, whose parents are off the boat Serbs, uses the 'ick' pronunciation.

I remember it was said in a preview awhile back that "Bellic" was pronounced "Bell-ish", which apparently proved to be false.

Names are often mutilated in to the language for the person saying the name.

Take Christopher Lambert (Connor McLoud - Highlander) most people will pronounce it as the Americanised name, even though he himself uses the French variation.

My own last name is Latvian and I live in the UK, no one pronounces it in Latvian. Heck I can barely pronounce it in Latvian. American's tend to pronounce it different to the British too. It's all about the native language of the person saying the name, more than it is incorrect pronunciation of the voice actors etc.

It really bugged me when I first heard it, 'cos in my head I had always pronounced it as Bell-eech. The feeling was like being really really hungry and than having something really gross as dinner. And the more I think about it, the more it starts to irritate me. :p

Also, TC: Wasn't Cipriani pronounced as Kipriani in GTA III? Instead of Sipriani (Think Citrus fruits)

Oh yeah, also...it doesn't really matter if someone is someone is Croatian or Serbian.
Think about the Serbian war criminals: Milosovic (Meeloso-veech) and Mladic (Mla-deech)
