oh and it was the 2nd thing i ever done in IV

i found a bum on the waterfront talking about aliens lol i gave him $10 and then he was like friends with me.
i accedently bumped into his friend that was with him and the bum i gave $10 to fighted FOR me against his real friend lol. i guess money does change people its just the little things like that in GTA IV that makes it such a unique experience
a bum asked me for money but i gave him a bullet to the head instead

The burnouts are really something--smoke billowing from the rear wheelwells, they've even gone so far as to give some cars limited-slip differentials and some open diffs (some cars will only pull a one-tire fire, while others will do a proper twin-stripe burnout) The sound effects are dead-on, too.

I like how if you get into an old clunker it'll smoke and chug and even backfire. I love how the Banshee will spit fire out of its exhaust occasionally.

Being able to shoot pigeons is a dream come true. I HATE those fucking flying rats. (I'm sure the ASPCA will have a fit over it though if they haven't already.)

I was walking around and saw the police chasing a man down a dead end alleyway. He surrendered and the police escorted him back

I actually followed a cop that was chasing down a suspect. Dude ran for about three blocks until the other guy finally gave up and was arrested. The cop escorted the criminal, at gunpoint, to a waiting squad car and loaded him up. Just one more thing that shows how much thought R* put into this game. Totally unscripted, just a random event.

Thumbs up

The damage to the vehicles are awesome, you can see every scratch, dent, bullet hole and even blood splatter.

Getting people hanging off the car when you jack them and slamming them into cars, poles, walls or just taking a jump and watching them get air born to their death. Thats funny.

Picking up objects like a brick and throwing it at randoms and running away.

pushing people onto the train tracks.

getting thrown out of the windshield when you hit something hard at a fast speed.

Burnouts and your tires popping.

Drive bys free look aim

Characters facial expressions

Radio plays in real time when you exit the car, take a run around the block and its still playing

So much more...
Hahaha, I heard you couldn't pick up stuff. Now that's great!

I always did that in Bully. I would pick up a brick, throw it at a cop at point-blank range, and take off.

I loove the vigilante missions in the cop car computer, or sometimes just doing the nearby crimes one. Went out to a gang activity one and couldn't seem to call for backup with the cop computer while on mission (lame) but called on phone instead. I hid behind a cop car until two cops showed up and a firefight between them and the gang ensued. After a minute it was apparent the cops would not win, and as the second one died I began popping off rounds... only the 2nd cop wasn't dead just wounded on the ground and with his last breaths called for backup. So I finish him off as four more cops cars come blazing in and hear a chopper approaching. I bolt past the crooked and hid behind a tractor trailer until the cops, who decided to take out the greater threat, the four gang members. Vigilante mission done and they forgot all about me squatting behind the truck

I haven't read all the posts in this thread (Just the first page) but you can actually bust your tyres with a burn out.

A lot of these have been listed already, but oh well:

-Scarborough Fair (and others) as ice cream truck jingles.
-Getting thrown through the front and then dying.
-Characters running with newspapers covering their heads when it rains.
-Jumps are insane!
-The police computer.
-Police actually being very difficult to avoid in cases.

The police have definitely gotten smarter. I've had situations where there was one police officer who refused to move near me, calling for backup until he'd do anything. (Probably because I was going around shooting people point-blank with a shotgun) The police also try to circle you, whereas in previous games they'd just run towards you like idiots.

I wonder if cops can climb ladders.
