Overall...I don't know what to think from this trailer. Seems like it's making a deliberate attempt to return to light hearted nature of pre-IV games, but the dialogue and some of the characters so far seem a little...I dunno, empty? The most important thing they need to nail is variety, not just in terms of minigames, but in terms of the map. If GTAIV proves anything it is, that you can have the most photo realistic map going, but it ain't work a shit if it's monotonous and bland.

EDIT: Also, seems like that horrible blurry/grunge filter from IV is still there.

After watching it thought, I can safely say I haven't felt this excited in the last 5 years for any game. Did you see that fucking map when he dropped from a airplane in a jeep and then jump out of the car?

Fuck yeah, looking good. Thought I'm going to buy a better graphics card so I can force AA this game, the jagged edges drove me nuts.

Seems to me, Gay Tony is probably a huge hint towards their overall direction.

Well it's only xbox360/ps3 , it'll probably look 10x better on PC

Still.. the game looks really good and the characters all look like characters I wanna play with (Michael looks a bit tame though.. but maybe that's just the contrast with Trevor).

It looks like the world is very varied. I wish they showed more of Los Santos in the trailer though like the beach areas.

After GTA IV I'm extra skeptical when it comes to this series.

IV is my least favorite in the series, but so far with the screens of the mountains and countryside it looks way less bland than IV thankfully.

Okay -- before everyone starts zaling on this trailer...

It's a trailer. It isn't THE GAME. The dialogue is crisp and the action looks tight. There are probably still some bugs left to be worked out.

What I love best is how the characters seem to have a lot more depth than many of the protagonists that we've seen in the past. Trevor looks truly nuts. Michael looks like he's truly worn-out. Franklin looks like he's truly going to go either the way of Michael or Trevor -- and it looks like he's going to have to choose which path to take.

I also feel that the glimpses of the open world are beautiful.

There is no such thing as a perfect game. This one won't be either. But I believe that the franchise is going to benefit a lot from this new addition. And it might be the best GTA game ever. EVER.

Let's not forget either --

This game looks both intense and fun. And there is a lot to be said for that. Striking a serious balance is what GTA games have always done best -- at least, when they've been at their best.

1. The dialogue in the trailer isn't crisp at all.
2. "Depth" doesn't mean what you think it means. Depth usually means they have more to them than one characteristic. Trevor being nuts isn't depth.
3. "There is no such thing as the perfect game" - Half-Life 1

It's an improvement on GTAIV from the looks of it. But that's mostly because GTAIV was the first GTA to ever take a leap back in gameplay. To shovel in a graphics which looked ugly anyway.

Just got to watch it but cant really get a good watch in considerig im at work but i actually like the look of it, it seems like theres a lot of action and i do hope that house blowing up wasnt scripted damage.

But i do like the variety of characters we have to choose from, instead of a single bland half psychotic half moral immigrant. Change is welcome and this trailer has actually made me look forward to a video game for once since san andreas.

That scene with Trevor cracking someone's skull with his foot caused the same reaction for me
