Imagine a PVP battle where a line of fighters charges a group of foes with shields raised. In a traditional MMO, they'd be slowed, frozen, stunned and torn apart by enemy mages en route. Here, they may be out of stamina from blocking when they finally close the distance, but a full-health melee specialist in the middle of archers and wizards is going to cause trouble no matter what - even if that's distracting ranged enemies while allied casters take advantage of the confusion.

It's basically WoW with Stamina that can drain. We will see how good or bad this will turn out to be

I won't play it. It's just a bit of a disappointment to me since I thought they could do something really interesting with an online version of ES.

It's a big deal for fans of the series. What if your favorite band switched to a totally different genre of music that you really dislike?

Yeah, you don't have to listen. But you'd probably want them to focus on what they're good at and what made them unique to begin with so that you can continue enjoying their work.

It's the same thing with Elder Scrolls. People WANT an Elder Scrolls online game, but this game is only Elder Scrolls in name and setting. They completely failed in recognizing why most people play ES games in the first place.

I saw one but the animation made me regret getting my hopes up.

Anyway, going to jump into Skyrim again. Patched up, got my HD textures, Cloak mod and Ultimate Follower Overhaul ready. Need something to play after I'm finished with Witcher 2

Would not have happened had it not been for all the bitching. Game companies want to keep their fans happy. How can they know how the fans feel about decisions made by the devs if the fans keep quiet?

You don't have any bullshit LOL 4 MANA = 1000 DAMAGE RAPEFEST spells. Balanced in power versus cost, and actual utility spells that can benefit any type of character.

I recommend it, really awesome stuff.

My favorite right now is the Energy Shield. Costs 70 mana to summon, and then it's active until you decide to toggle it off, meaning it's on until you decide it's on. It deflects 50% of all damage (Magic, Melee, Shout, Falling, etc) and for every point of deflected damage it drains 4 mana. Every time your hit, there is a sort of blue haze/arc on the spot you got hit, cool shit.

So, for a mage it might be useful in a quick fight to deflect a sword blow that you couldn't evade or perhaps that saving grave when you get hit by a trap you didn't notice. But I learned the hard way that a dragon's fire shout will sabotage your mana supply quickly but keep you alive.

Case in point: First dragon you fight. Fire breath = Instakill. Fire breath on 140 Mana + Energy Shield: Mana depleted, health is above 70% and you can find cover.

A melee guy on the other hand, I can't see a downside. You basically have your heavy armour, and your shield, and this energy shield that acts as a regenerating buffer.

That's exactly why I could not give any less of a shit about the Elder Scrolls Online. But I'm not going to sit here and write emails or make picket signs or whatever the hell else those undoubtedly productive individuals did to get an acceptable ending for Mass Effect 3 so they could sleep at night. It's just a game, so unless it's spectacular (like I thought and still think Skyrim is), I'm not going to bother even thinking about it.

But if they did the Elder Scrolls Online the way it actually should be done, then hell yes.
