@Xan: Their stock has dropped by a monumental third of a percent last time I checked. :p Not sure what it's like now but I don't expect it to "landslide" like some people do.

A lot of members here use it. What's the big deal? :p It's kinda like Amazon Prime where they give away much more than what the service actually costs. There are tons of free games for PS+ people that normally cost $10 - $20. Wipeout HD, etc. I don't use PS+ personally but I can understand why people do.

EDIT: 'Da hell is wrong with my posts not showing up. :/

They have been since it started you sucka. ;p

Not enough to make it worth it for me imo. I'd probably get PS+ if I bought more PSN games though.

PS+ is worth it for me. I paid $18 for three months and got over $100 of games and stuff for free.

I'm just hoping some Judge somewhere has any sort of common sense.

Or at least I'm hoping more companies will spend a moment or two to reflect on how they store and secure their own data. Probably won't happen and idiots will still be sending single man escort teams with sensitive laptops, and then leaving them on public buses or some other stupid shit.

Rumors are following thru various underground "credit card" trading forums, and on the new #psnhack twitter list that a large section of the PSN database containing complete personal details along with over 2.2million working credit card numbers with the much-needed CVV2 code are being offer up for sale to the highest-bidder, after the "hackers" tried to sell the DB back to Sony for a price, but they of course didn't answer!

The following information is from Kevin Stevens, Security Researcher in hostile times from his @killercube on Twitter:

Hackers offer to return DB containing 2.2million CC's to Sony for a price, they say NO!
Quote:
Discussion about #psnhack and possible speculation about the hackers being from Europe Logs - efnet - #ps3dev - 2011-04-26

<Mathieulh>trixter, people I know had a shell on the psn servers

<Mathieulh>did you know that sony didn't disable the function that sets the psn server under maintenance ?

The hackers that hacked PSN are selling off the DB. They reportedly have 2.2 million credits cards with CVVs #psnhack

Sony was supposedly offered a chance to buy the DB back but didn't #psnhack

@mikkohypponen That is what is going around on some underground forums. The DB contains pretty much everything

@the_pc_doc That is what I thought but the guys selling it say that they have CVV2 numbers

@RiquezJP Well not properly securing your server breaks compliance as far as I know.

@RangerRick Yeah, this information about the CVV2 numbers could be bogus. The guys selling the DB could just be making it up.

Supposedly the hackers selling the DB says it has: fname, lnam, address, zip, country, phone, email, password, dob, ccnum, CVV2, exp date

No, I have not seen the DB so I can not verify that it is true
What follows is some 'screenshots' from various 'underground' forums, that suggests the database is complete, and also contains over 150,000 German accounts, so is this just a "Europe" slice of the pie, or did the still unnamed 'hackers' target that country because of what Sony did to the 'scene' in regard to how they were handling the graf_chokolo case!

Definitely going to have my bank give me a new debit card now just for safe measure. It expires this year anyway.

Of fucking course Sony said no. not a single company in existence would say yes to extortion. Do you really think the hackers would actually give them back the data? or not just sell it anyways even if Sony paid?

Not to mention who in their right mind would even attempt to sell back something they stole to the people they stole it from. that completely reeks of bullshit.

Also its not an item that you can give back. Once its been taken and distributed it can't be given back. Sony would be foolish to pay money on the word of a hacker that they won't release it for some money.

I wonder if these hackers think they will get away with it.... You can't get away with much these days, especially when it comes to pissing on a large cooperation that's willing to dump tons of money into private investigators and attorneys.

I would pay any amount to see them get caught. Just for the spectacle of it all. A HUGE circus about a "hacker" trial. It would be glorious to watch.

EDIT: Also interesting, news is floating around that the hackers actually didn't end up with any actual usable credit card information now. The internet blow something out of proportion and freak out over? WHY I NEVER!!!

From what I've heard most of the hackers were from like asia/eastern europe, aka where nobody gives a shit.
