I think they did, the easter eggs and all that stuff.

No, they shouldn't. The fact that GTA 2 left out some things in GTA 1, and GTA III left out some things in GTA 2, and GTA VC left out some things that were in GTA III, and so on and so forth, is what makes all the GTAs fun and enjoyable. It is also what makes each game unique, yet all of them have common points.

After all these 11 years, I thought true GTA fans would actually realize this. If GTA IV had all the features all the previously-released titles had, would you go back to playing the past titles and actually enjoy them? I say, perhaps not.

I still play the past titles once in a while now, and it's pretty interesting. I still get a fun and unique experience with each GTA game, and that's what it's supposed to be like. It's not like Saint's Row where you just take the same city and "expand" it with the exact same feeling and atmosphere, and then you throw out the previous games.

Even LCS and VCS, they felt different from GTA III and VC respectively. I think that's a really honorable achievement Rockstar has achieved. If you're really a true GTA fan, just appreciate what each GTA game was and the experience and atmosphere each one provided.

And, on-topic: the new gangs system is much more realistic. I mean, it wouldn't add to the fun if all the pedestrians looked the same. Just like in real-life, you never really know which guy on the street is a bad or a good guy just by the way he or she dresses.
Id say you hit the nail on the head for the most part. As much as we may hate this simple fact, Rockstar games is a business. They stumbled upon a type of game that sold very well. Its not what a fan really cares to hear, but its "smart business" to leave the consumer wanting more.

when more and more people that buy their games, the more revenue they get. The larger the amount of money the company has, the larger the amount of tools they have at their disposal to create a better game than the last. Hype is a very powerful sales tool, and it worked quite well for GTAIV. It pissed some people off, but rockstar is now richer for it.

I haven't seen loads of gangs stand out, i've been shot at by a load of people a few times though. The gangs and turf wars were great on SA, I do hope to see it in future GTA's.

Okay, and I just found a group of bikers around the Burger Shot in the airport area. So, firsthand: there are gangs.

I personally think that there are gangs. For example the people who drive the "Red Cavalcades of Death" and "The Blue Sultans of Death" around Alderney City, and the people who drive around in the "Mafia" Sentinels in little italy, and the Black Landstalkers with LCD screens in the back of the headrests in East Holland. There's probably even more than that....

Do the bikers use one type of motorcycle or a variety? Since I had to restart my story mode, I can't find a Hellfury for shit.

edit, didnt read ur post, but yeah i agree with you 100 percent

youride through areas of china town? jersey? bohan? w.e their called and uve never pulled out your gun and got ran up on by the same looking people and shot to death/car jacked? i thought their was a decent amount of gangs and street thugs, as mentioned before they werent really a part of the story line, but i know their are plenty of gangs, just no real names.

The gangs in IV just aren't as colorful and noticeable as they were in others. One of the most recognizable gangs in IV is the biker gang. Try walking up and punching one when hes with his group. Knifes and guns 'O plenty. =]

It's all down to realism and all that Jazz, I know, I know, it takes away from the fun, but it's one aspect that was in dire need of changing, since in past games all of a gangs members looked the same and wore the same stuff and had identical cars, etc, in the real world police would just not bother with undercover units they could just walk up to them and arrest them and that's it. Having Gang members belnd in with the crowed is extreme realism and a gang member wouldn't wave a gun around in the street for no reason unless they were provoked. It's a little confusing, but I've noticed something, they tend to wear SIMILAR clothes and are often the first people to speak to you in the street and usually in a threatening manner.
