Tactics

Now, let me start off by saying that I've never been great at any online games; mediocre at best, but with IV I usually get around 25 kills+5 deaths on the average 20min TDM. But, I noticed that there are alot of people that try the "charging the meat-grinder" tactic. So I decided to share a few simple ideas you can apply to kick some ass online. *If you're a veteran player you might want to skip to the second section (Increasing Accuracy)

Note, these ideas are primarily for Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch with auto-aim enabled, but can also be put into use in other game types. Also PS3 controls (classic), but you 360 guys will get the idea...

Common Sense;
a good place to start

1. If you're going to drive, don't stop right infront of the enemy to get out of the car. Pretty simple, you'll die before you get out the door.
*Never do this in a game with auto-aim on, NEVER* *this is also one of the big reasons why I dont take rides from team mates, youre at a dissadvange in a car!*

1.1 -One of the best weapons I found to use against an enemy in a vehicle (at close range) is the combat-shotgun, you can put alot of death into a small area quickly.

2. Use cover. Just like in single player, hide behind whatever is around. You don't need to use the cover system all the time, just as long as you're not out in the open.

Increasing Accuracy

3. The (quick) head shot. When targeting your enemy with auto-aim, by pressing L1, the cross-hair settles on the center-mass. Now something I've seen people use mostly in pistol fights is the fine-aim mode (R3). If you press R1, then R3, you get a close up view of your locked on enemy. Finally to get that great head shot all you have to do is push up SLIGHTLY on the right joystick. In less than 5 seconds you've put down the target. No more prolonged gun fights!

4. Just because you have an assault rifle dosnt mean you have to go full auto, because as everyone knows, the longer you hold on the trigger, the less likely you are to hit your target. A simple practice that works in real life works here as well. Tap the trigger. But beware, don't tap the trigger when using the cover system, because your character won't fire (or might only fire once.) I noticed even the Ingram (mac10) gets fairly accurate this way. *try a combination of tapping+shorts bursts*

I suggest only going full auto in close range, works well with the cover system. You can surprise your enemy and kill him/her fast.

knew it all already...

just dont forget to add how you need to be quick on your legs, shoot the people before they shoot you. they can get hurt and fall onto the ground. Dont stop, keep shooting. Also try get one hit by aiming for the head. helps with auto aim.

I assume you're talking about the single player game there. So Im going to disregard that, since this is in the multiplayer section.

As for headshots, thats been covered.
