DLC could well be a revamped Vice City -

I think it will be, dont you?

heres my inclines...

Why would MS pay $50million just for a few weapons, some new vehicles etc; its a waste of money
GTA IV cost $100M to make, MS funded half of that by paying $50m (very strange)

Rockstar said the DLC would be about 20hours, remember Vice City only took about 15 hours to complete...

How will Rockstar have time to make Vice City again you might ask?

Simple, they will have been working on it for months before now, Vice City only took about 9 months to make, plus the overall layout and mapping of the city is still there from the previous versions of the game.

Hows it going to work?

To solve all peoples queries about planes and parachuting Rockstar could sort this within a click of fingers...

open up the St Francis airport for ridable planes, fly to a new Vice Vice city with there airport or get a plane ticket.

Just look at COD4, Oblivion... they have all had extended DLC including Maps etcl;, why not GTA IV?

With MS paying $50M for the rights to the DLC MS will get more than enough money back from people who will buy 360s just for the case of the DLC for GTA IV....

Unfortunatly this will leave PS3 users unsecure... (part of MSs winning tactics)

Thats what i say... what about you?

Microsoft have paid $50 million for "Episodic Content" meaning the DLC will be an extention of the story line, not Vice City

Also, a GTA III to IV style expansion on the same map, eg Vice City being way bigger, would be a better thing to do for another game. No way could they include a decent sized Vice City with as much things to do, that's really got to be saved for another game. And as stated by Lukeyy, it's been confirmed as episodic content.

Plus most of the $50M was to make it exclusive, and not just for the actual content.

How much do you think Rockstar would make on a 'Vice City'. By leaving out the PS3 they're cutting their market in half and that's a lot more than 50 million.

And making a CoD map is something anyone can do with a bit of free time, a whole new GTA IV map takes a full team and 10000's of manhours.

My word, there is alot of supposition and pulling facts/stats from thin air in this thread.

Episodic content can mean anything, it doesn't just have to be limited to a few extra missions.
Hell a good script writer would be able to continue the story in any direction and to anywhere, even the 'Lost' island. Not likely though

you have a lot to learn.

microsoft arn't gonna go "we will pay you 50 million, but only if you unlock jetpacks for us please!". microsoft are saying "here is 50 million, make us something, anything, that the ps3 doesn't have - so we can market the xbox as a fuller gta experience - even if its some shitty new weapon, that will be fine".

As a note, who would actually like a modern-day Vice City? The city seemed to be made for 1986 and would probably be (more) bland in 2008. (Obviously they'd massively change the layout, or else it would be really bland) It'd be filled with condos and such which haven't seen real life in them since 1993 at best and the clubs would be filled with generic modern-day club music or closed down and converted into something else.

The 1980's vibe made the city. Without it, it probably would of been classified as horribly boring. There either needs to be an expansion pack (as in a new game, not DLC) setting it shortly after 1986 (1988?) or a bit earlier. (1982, maybe late 70's)

We also need to understand that unless the radio stations are remarkably long-distance (New York to Florida IRL) and Vice City residents enjoy hearing Liberty City news & music, there will need to be new radio stations, pedestrians (+ voice files, no peds talking about how awesome it'd be to fly to Vice City), textures, and some sort of feeling to it. Otherwise it'd feel like an inferior version of Liberty City. Too much to include in DLC.

Also keep in mind, vice city is set in miami florida (or something like that) and GTA 4 in new york. There would be practically no connection.

I've always said I'd like it to be a short trip Niko takes back to the old country. It wouldn't have to be very big, it'd be sweet if it were still a bit of a war-zone so a lot more of the people we see will have plenty of ammunition and such.

But a new city in DLC is unrealistic. On a sidenote, when they come out with the next GTAs, I'd really rather they did what they had with 3-SA, making it the same cities as in that first GTA, but making it with all the cities that were in San Andreas.

I don't think so, they took it back to Liberty mainly because they've been working/living in New York for so long, I don't think they'd be eager to bring VC back as DLC. And it would take a lot of time to make VC comparable to new Liberty City, and I don't think they've been working on it already. If they had manpower/money to put people to modelling a completely new city, they wouldn't have delayed the game back in October.
