Should EVERTHING in the game have a physical presence?

I mean, should all objects in the game have collision detection and related effects to them? Like for instance, if you're flying a helicopter, should running into some powerlines slow it down/electrocute it? Should driving a car through a bushy area cause the foliage to get trampled/caught on the car, maybe even cover up the windshield? Because stuff like that is intangible in the other games, and not very realistic.

This would be a very good idea and very good part of the game, but it's a really long shot!

Yeah, personally I think that'd seem like a cool feature to include at first but as time went on it'd just get annoying.

Odds on that's why they didn't have things like that in previous GTA's. It'd just get old to have to remember to look for things like that.

Yes, definitely, if it could be done right.

Definitely. I hated it that when you fly into a tree, you'd either destroy or damage your plane/heli and you have no effect on the tree.

Awesome idea.

Well, look at Half Life 2's ragdoll physics, you can break things when you run in to them. I've seen in games when you hit a bush the 2D foilage bends down, making a realistic effect, and preventing you from seeing grass inside of your interior and sticking out of your roof.

well, this is where space and things like framerate come into play. that many objects on screen would run the game into the floor, plus that many fully physic-ed and animated objects would really drain space and power. that is ambitious, is all i'm saying.

Oh bloody hell, ignore my previous post, I understood wrong.

Yes, that's a great idea.

I think that if it's realistic, it could really be fun. Imagine birds flying into windows... That would make me laugh.

Am I sick?

Yes, everything should have a physical presence.

Example, you bump over a trash can, the lid slips off, some crap falls out. Realism like that would put the game in a class of it's own, physics - wise.

It'd be awsome if when your car went through a tree, your tv screen would have leaves on it, so it will encourage good driving.
